Im in love with my boyfriend but lately I can’t shake the feeling that he’s a bit difficult. We’ve started couple’s therapy but the therapist we’re using is also his therapist. I don’t feel comfortable with that and I’ve let him know. He says I don’t fight hard enough for what I want in the relationship because when he asks me to explain things in detail and defend my point, I sometimes get flustered and give up. He’s let me know that I have a lot of issues and I’ve really been trying to fix them, but I recently pointed out that I feel uncomfortable with the amount of correction and analysis I receive from him. There are days where for hours he points out everything I’m doing wrong. For example while grocery shopping I made a joke about cereal and he said I was so judgmental towards other people and myself. This went on for several hours. I’m usually not allowed to interrupt or say anything because that upsets him. I asked if we could take a break for an hour. I asked if maybe the amount of negative things he points out about me could be less. He explained that these things were only negative because I gave them that characteristic. He said what he was sharing were just observations.
I feel that the amount of things I have to be careful about are getting out of control. He pointed out that I stomp around so I’ve started walking on my tip toes. He doesn’t Like the word “just” so I’ve started using it less. He’s trying to stay off sugar so I don’t bring sugar drinks around him because they’re too tempting. My hands get cold and he’s explained that hugging him with cold hands is a violation of his trust. Before hugging him I’ve now started to let him check my hand temperature. I started to keep my nails short because he says my nails scratch his couch (his couch is 10 years old and has large chunks of Leather peeling off of it). When he brings something up and I answer too quickly he says that’s defensive just because it’s an automatic response. If I don’t fight for what I believe in though, he says I’m not agreeing with him from the heart and just avoiding conflict. Even the way we kiss has to be a certain way.
I have to be very selective with my words. For example, the other day I asked “what are your plans for the space” when construction for a room in his house was completed. He explained that what I asked implied there should be plans. A less leading question would have been “do you have plans for the space” because I’m asking if plans exist.
I have pointed out that there are a lot of rules to follow and he has explained that the rules were created by me. That these are just requests and I’ve chosen to create rules for myself. He recently pushed me to complete a self growth seminar but the people involved with it are very pushy and keep telling me to “shut my brain off” and i just can’t. I don’t know how to feel less worthless especially if I’m the one doing it all. It just feels like that might not be the case. Am I just being difficult? Am I really hurting myself?

I found a phenomenon that under sky light skin turns more yellow , which is the color of stratum corneum . But for some lights that pierce skin powerfully , it turns out red , which is vein color under skin . So I think there should be a 'penetrating level' for lights to display correct color . High-level penetrating light causes corresponding subsurface color . But skin blocks light when it's self , soft sky light so 3S should not been displayed ?

She lives with the AP, but we share the kids 50/50. They live with me in the house 100% of the time, and every other friday, she comes and sleeps on my couch for a week to be with them.
When shes around, this woman constantly grills me about my personal life. She Makes snarky comments about who I hang out with, making accusations about me and women, alleging I'm sleeping with a bunch of women, which I'm not. I've slept with some women early on in our separation but I've since just been hanging out with male friends or my kids. They're the only ones worth spending my time with.
She cries about how her life is turning out, mostly about how her job sucks and she cant afford living in the real world, and then comes at me with these interrogations and comments, that quite frankly make me uncomfortable.
I try to grey rock since nothing I say will ever be the right answer, it only opens me up to more of her anger and manipulation of my words.
Anybody else experience this shit? Any success at not feeling that overwhelming since of dread when the ex is around?

I was abused and traumatized as a child. SO when I became an adult I just withdrew from society. I have always barely survived. Now I am over 40 and I have nothing, and my body has pain along with my mind. I have learned what is wrong with me mentally. I still need to work on it, but its a start.
I really dream of a simple life. Being able to have a quite safe place to live. Lots of plants around me. Maybe a few animals. A place to do arts and crafts. A green house and garden. A partner. I dont think Im asking for much, but it seems like I am asking for the moon.
I have actually developed a lot of skills, and Im decently intelligent, but fearful of people. Im good with computers. I can do 3d art and animation. I can use photoshop and lightroom. I enjoy stuff like obsidian, and rpgmaker. Im not great at coding. I do understand it a little.
Im good at design and building. I have made a lot of different stuff. I made the truck camper I am currently living in. I can fix things. I enjoy drawing and painting. I like crafts. I have created things in lots of mediums. I also spent a few years absolutely absorbed in photography.
I am decent at writing, and have studied psychology and philosophy. Mostly psychology. I ran a subreddit for over a year for people abused in childhood, and when I shut it down. Many people thanked me for making a difference in their life.
I guess I could keep going listing stuff for a while. My basic point is that I have useful skills, but how do I translate those into a living wage? How do I do this without being overwhelmed with socializing? How can I receive the healing help I need. When I am really struggling with my mental health and I live in a homemade camper all by myself?
It feels like I am so far from the starting line, and the clock is running out. It feels like if I could just have my basic needs met and a little safety and security, along with therapy. I could become a useful person to this world. Instead time just keeps slipping by and I dissociate to tolerate my existence.

I think AI fear is so pernicious here not so much because of AI itself, but because rationalists among others hold implicit values that it targets. To use a pop culture example, serial killer films in the 70s are effective because of the increased value of individualism and self-empowerment then; people perceive the dark side of those values if unconsciously.
i can think of four values from hanging around this scene and reddit in general that it hits.
1. Human beings are or should be governed by impersonal or abstract forces. A common thing i see here is this. Rationalists tend to view solutions or causes on a force level; a man is made by his environment, and the wisdom of a crowd is better than that of a man. Rationalists approach the world through statistics, not literature.
2. Intelligence is a moral good and the best measure of an individual's potential. Hence the endless focus on IQ. I use an an analogy to height to show the difference.
Like height, intelligence is a quality that is biological to a point. But intelligence is held to an almost moral standard, whereas when people try to do so to height (i only date 6"0' and up!) we rebel against it as absurd. We dislike "tall people will have a better potential life than short people."
For some reason it has moved into a good in itself. To be short is just life; to not be smart is a failure.
3. The highest self-actualization is in high-status, meaningful work.
i think as we become more atomized, work increasingly fills people's lives as the sole bestower of value. Even work-substitutes do; video games are popular more and more as comparative status and meaning; you are ranked and you grind in them as much as play and ppl hunt achievements and trophies.
4. An ideal man is machine-like in a sense. Objective, dispassionate, and standardized. What I mean is a man strives to produce photographs and not drawings; he should view the world according to natural laws or objective reality and strive to eliminate bias or personality. Things like abstract art are anathema; machines do not have a subjective life.

- It is impersonal force embodied. Namely, how dependent we are on technology that we fear moves us, not is moved by us. It fuses a deity with an impersonality as if one day a God of evolution showed up.
- It is ten times "smarter" than us by the metrics we use, even though it isn't smart at all. It both upholds intelligence and destroys it. Think of a chess computer.
- It will destroy work as a source of meaning for many people leaving...what, exactly? Most everything else as source of meaning has been discredited or weakened.
- You can't outrun a car. People aim to be more rational than other beings. But what happens when you can't? Subjectivity as insurmountable and we become Kirk to a Spock.
anti-fear response:
- A man's destiny is in his own hands; statistics do not define us.
- Intelligence is just one aspect of humanity and needs to be unvirtued a bit. we've gone too far.
- Work cannot be a source of meaning long-term. Competition is making that untenable. New forms of meaning must be found.
- Subjectivity is important. A singular human viewpoint also has value. There is also a place for it.
2023.05.28 18:07 Known-Salamander-821 Doing everything right and nothing is working
So just some background info, I had a baby 6 months ago . During my pregnancy I gained 112 pounds . None of the doctors seemed concerned about that. Pre pregnancy I was around 130-140 . At the end of my pregnancy I was 247.6 pounds . And I had my baby early… 3 weeks early so who knows how much bigger I would of gotten. I immediately lost about 23 pounds of that just from baby ,fluids, and placenta weight. Over the next three months I got down to 199.
Now to clarify it took a lot of changes just to get down to this weight. I was eating in a calorie deficit of about 1500-1700 calories depending on activity level . I cut out processed food completely. Just whole foods. I upped my water intake and I don’t exercise at the gym HOWEVER that’s because my job is very physically demanding I mean getting 10,000 or more steps in one shift lots of squatting and lifting . Every shift I work I am sweating for 8 hours straight . I work 30 hours a week. I also get plenty of sleep about 7 hours or more a night . I got to a point of so much desperation that I tried intermittent fasting . I did the 16:8 fast. At first this seemed to work I got down to 196 but my weight has gone up to 199 and it’s been days so doesn’t seem like a weight fluctuation. During my 8 hour window I focused on lots of protein and still staying in my calorie deficit . I ate things like chicken, salmon, nuts, eggs, yogurt, some fruit. And no I did not overeat.
I’m at a loss of what to do . I understand that postpartum weight loss takes time and that it can be slow, but I’m 6 months out now it’s been 3 months of nothing and this seems excessive. I’m just not sure what else I could do . I’m wondering if now would be a good time to seek a doctor for help but also concerned I won’t be taken seriously or they’ll just tell me to do one of the things I’ve already been doing.
Edit: I’d like to add that I’ve been taking measurements too not just using the scale to monitor progress and my lost in inches has also stalled.

Now to clarify it took a lot of changes just to get down to this weight. I was eating in a calorie deficit of about 1500-1700 calories depending on activity level . I cut out processed food completely. Just whole foods. I upped my water intake and I don’t exercise at the gym HOWEVER that’s because my job is very physically demanding I mean getting 10,000 or more steps in one shift lots of squatting and lifting . Every shift I work I am sweating for 8 hours straight . I work 30 hours a week. I also get plenty of sleep about 7 hours or more a night . However it seems to me that there is nothing mysterious or unexplained about the phenomenon of consciousness.
Consciousness is the name we give to the continuous experience of our brain processing various forms of sensory input. It is an emergent property of having a complex brain organ shaped by aeons of natural selection and evolution.
A "simple" or early life form would have increased its chances of being naturally selected by developing meschanisms which enabled it to move towards food, shelter or light. As organisms grew more complex and adapted to their environment, their sense organs developed, as did their brains, and eventually humans came about, with a highly developed brain, highly developed eyes, ears, nerves etc.
Our "higher level of consciousness" seems to simply mean that we are able to use all of these brain faculties, combined with short & long term memory and our ability to reason, to interact more effectively with our environment. We also have a complex inner life, with emotions and beliefs coming into play. And yet all of these fit with what we know about nature, they make sense when considered scientifically.
What we call "consciousness" or "awareness" is simply our living experience of all this sensory data being processed by electrical activity within the physical organ of the brain.
Many current scientists, philosophers and religions frame consciousness as something confounding, unfathomable and potentially even of divine providence.
I've read various articles and watched videos about this and I still can't understand where the " big mystery" lies in all this - consciousness seems very logical and easy to understand when we have very basic understanding of the way animals' biology and works and how they interact with their environments, and are shaped by this.

Tier 3, Important but not that important: Fultz, Suggs, Cole
This will probably be a point of contention. I think they are all very solid players in different ways, but I am not completely sold on any of them being vital to our backcourt. All of them are missing a little something to their game and need some development.
I personally love Fultz and was hesitant to put him in this tier. But I think if we had the chance to land a higher caliber PG, or highly touted PG prospect, it would be a no brainer.
I think all of their roles are "in jeopardy" to some degree. Our picks could come in and make an immediate impact. Fultz not as much as Cole and Suggs. I could see a lot guard minutes going to a rookie who can actually shoot the ball.
Tier 4, Keep if cheap: Bol, Okeke, Houstan, Goga
Bol needs to develop a ton. Okeke didn't get a fair shake last year. And Houstan is still young and developing. I think Houstan can grow into a very reliable bench shooter for us.
