So i just beat stalker lost alpha revisited and spent like 400 hours completing it all, it was incredible.
Now im on to new mods. But the story is all the same confusion.I dont think ive ever played a less clear singleplayer campaign in all of my gaming history.
When you go to aprogram institute and the dude is like "HELP WE UNDER ATTACK" (the one where you need to save mole).. It is just so profoundly unclear on what you need to do. The developers think its a good idea to send a 2nd nearly-impossible-to-beat military wave and helicopters to kill mole and break the game apparently. This part just seems so wrong to me. MOLE IS AN IMPORTANT NPC WITH QUESTS AND WHATNOT. Yet they just march him to his death into a death helicopter?? WHAT THE EFFING FK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HERE.
And OGSR makes it even more confusing by blocking off the ladder to the underground (the one mole brings you to).. AND THEY EVEN BLOCK THE STAIRS GOING DOWN nearby.. So i guess i have to trudge back through the wave of military reinforcements??
Its almost like the developers took the game out of its package at the last minute before mailing it off, and deleted 50% of the games quest waypoints before they shipped the game, just so it would be more confusing.. AND not one single mod tries to adress any of this trash? Have you ever considered telling the player where they need to go? I dont think ive ever used google more in a single video game. The people who made this game expect the player to be psychic or something. Not one single quest unfolds in a logical manner.
Stalker is such an incredible atmosphere, but i honestly hate anything related to the developers trying to do something. Its always so unclear and just wrong feeling. The whole campaign just feels like you are doing something incorrect from start to finish. Sidorovich at one point even says "you dont have to come all the way back here, bring it straight to barkeep" and you are like OK COOL SO THIS GAME IS LOGICAL. Then the second you spy on a mob in garbage the game says RETURN TO SIDOROVICH.. So its like wtf? This game is a hot mess.
The game is like an amazing sandbox with vehicles and beauty. Hampered by artificial shallow systems like radiation, anomalies, bad scripts, bad missions, invisible walls, blocked passageways. It feels like old cheap game stuff is holding back a newer-feeling-game. Just so much Artificial suffering. Not even bethesda quests are this interfuckulated
and the mods just make it worse! They try and pretend its a realistic game! You cant just remove 90% of the players health from the vanilla game and say "realistic" When you figure out a way to make AI stop stop being able to shoot through bushes, and yaknow...MISS SHOTS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. Then and only then do you have permission to make the player die in 2 shots
I hate AAA games, i despise call of duty, but theres a reason millions of people play cod and only hundreds of people play stalker. There needs to be a balanced middle ground. Having 700 save games in a single playthrough on the easiest difficulty is not a good video game.
Are there any mods that just use the stalker environments, weapons, sounds, and literally nothing else? Like a true sandbox with no scripts.
And i got to find a way to disable anomalies, if there was an RPG-esque solution for them i would probably enjoy them. We need to be able to disable them somehow. Seeing your car explode in the middle of a street just makes you want to uninstall the game.
A good game would say "follow the road to stay safe from anomalies".. But this troll does the opposite and puts anomalies right in the center of all the roads
im just frustrated at how close this is to being a good game. The gameworld is superior to dayz chernaurus. But the horrible scripts and missions and CLUNK make me think dayz is the better game currently
Anomalies and radiation is fkn nerdy and shallow and fake, the only place there should be radiation in the game is in those towering metal garbage piles and NOWHERE else. Stop being annoying just for the sake of being annoying

I've been building and upgrading my gaming PC for the last 18 years, and a few years ago I bought a fairly cheap Synology NAS store my media, backup my PC and share files between devices.
Lately I've been thinking about upgrading and I've always wanted to have a go at building a home server. I don't know much about the hardware so I need some advice.
My primary goals are: - NAS: My Synology NAS only holds 2 drives so I want some more expandable. - Game Servers: Nothing too hardcore, typically just the odd Minecraft server and a few other games, not necessarily running at the same time and usually only me and a few mates. - Virtual Machines: Ties in with Game Servers but I also like to play around with them for various other purposes.
Nice to have: - Video Editing: Me and my partber occasionally edit 4K video. At the moment we have to transfer the files to an extranal SSD so one of us can edit, then we swap it over so the other scan edit š. If we can both do this from the same NAS, that would be great.
Musts: - Energy Efficient: With the cost of electricity these days it can't be hideously expensive just to keep it powered on. - Quiet: It will be in my home so it needs to be as close to silent as possible.
Budget wise I'm not too sure what to expect. I think I'd like to have a go a building a rack which I know can get expensive, but I'm not too worried about that. I want quality but not overkill.
At home it's just me and my partners PC wired. 2 TVs possibly also wired if not WiFi. Phones and the other WiFi stuff. I want to keep it expandable but obviously Ill never benefit from a massive 24 port network switch.
Unfortunately no left over PC parts as I tend to sell stuff on but I'm keen to build the server myself. Any advice on components would be really helpful here. And any other hardware that Im going to need to make this work.
Not looking for all the answers, just some guidance so any help would be very appreciated š

I bought a new 2018 Rav4 Hybrid SE a little over 4 years ago and this past month the power liftgate stopped working. It beeps teice when using the button in the drivers seat or either button on the door as if there is an object obstructing it from closing. After making sure the sensors are not pushed in, trying the height reset, vehicle setting power off/on and other online fixes I finally went to the dealer and was told I needed to replace both struts (part numbers 68910-49135 and 68920-49135). The service advisers also mentioned these parts fail pretty often and are badly designed. They said that after market parts are cheaper and are no worse than the OEM Toyota parts (~$300 each). I haven't found an aftermarket part that says it is a replacememt for those part numbers but have had after market stores (fridayparts.com) say that part numbers 68920-09080 and 68910-09110 (~$250 pair) are compatible. I'm wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of this repair and has any advice or suggestions. I've had other cars with power trunks with no problems and didnt expect such bad quality from Toyota.

We live in an apartment and canāt store them inside, we have a shed in the yard but itās too full of bikes etc. we found a spot to tuck them behind some bushes and trees against a fence in the backyard which isnāt visible by the street and is behind the gazebo. Weāve covered them with tarps as well. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of how we can lock them just in case? There are some grommets on both boards (pictured) you could string something through but could cut the plastic part if you really wanted to get at the boards. We live in a fairly safe area but just want to be careful as they are a costly investment. Theyāre also awkward to carry and get out of yard if someone really wanted to steal & if deflated they make a really loud noise anyway that might scare a thief off. Hi y'all. This is going to be an aimless ramble. Just going to write stuff down to see what it is.
I've been an alcoholic for like 10 years. Past two years got really bad. I finally hit some wall and got help. Went to the hospital, got admitted to a psych ward, got meds and help. Stayed 10 days in, which were really good.
Getting back to real world has been a bit more problematic. I drank through my savings the past 16 months. Now, I'm trying to get on social welfare so I don't end up on the streets. But it's complicated. I have a caseworker, so prolly things may turn out OK, but I'm really at the edge. My initial application will probably be denied due to complex issues. But I have enough money to last 1 more month. Which hopefully is enough for the social worker to help me get everything sorted out.
So there you have my main source of stress. I can't sleep. I have mild medication, which helps a bit but not perfect.
What about alcohol? This is a "stop drinking" sub and you've rambled on and on about finances.
Well, I have no cravings at all. I don't want to drink.
But at the same time, life seems pointless. At least when I was drinking, I enjoyed my shitty tv shows when I was plastered.
So, or guess that means I miss being drunk. I don't want to drink, but I miss being drunk. That's the title, let me update it now before posting.
I think about giving up and just moving to the streets. Like a true vagabond. Foolish daydreams. I think about ending it all. But that's just the tragi-romantic ending I hope for my story. Never going to act on it.
If it gets to the point where it seems I REALLY won't get on social welfare, I guess then I'll use my last pennies to get shit faced. Hmm.
Oh and the funny part of how the health care system tries to take care of you here? During detox, I was approached by an outpatient help organisation. It's standard procedure here that after you get released from the ward, you need outpatient treatment in the form of 1-on-1 and group councelling.
We agreed on an initial appointment to further discuss my situation (I'm not fluent in local language, so I can't do the group meetings nearby). That got cancelled as the person got sick. I approached the organisation and they gave me a new appointment with another person. I waited 2 weeks for that. Guess what. That was also cancelled coz of sickness ššš
It's been, I don't know, a month or more since my release? And on my patient file it says: "immediate councelling set up with organisation xyz". I guess I'm "fine" without councelling then. And kinda wanna just tell them off. Well, that's if or when I hear from them again. Don't get me wrong, people get sick yada yada. Just seems I've been very unlucky.
Two weeks ago I ran into a guy I met at the ward. He's been going to the meetings nearby for weeks. While I'm still waiting for the initial consultation š

Of course I need a different AC/Heat controller, I have that from a 90 Ranger that I pulled from a junk yard. Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk is cheerleading the far-right boycott of Target over the retailerās Pride collection ā which included trans-friendly youth apparel and other LGBTQ-positive gear ā for what Kirk decries as ātheir support for grooming kids.ā
Kirkās condemnation of the retailer coincided with TPUSAās second-annual Pastors Summit in Nashville, Tennessee, this past week, where Kirk also denounced Target, telling a crowd of hundreds of religious leaders: āIf you love God, you must hate evil.ā
Yet in delivering these fevered messages about morality and child welfare, Kirk had an odd benefactor, a man whose criminal history opens up TPUSA to charges of hypocrisy.
Rolling Stone has learned that one of the TPUSA summitās corporate sponsors is a Christian fashion company that is led by a registered sex offender, Shawn Bergstrand, who served time in federal prison for attempted ācoercion and enticementā after trying to persuade āa minor femaleā to āengage in sexual activity.ā
In a statement to Rolling Stone, TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said that TPUSA Faith āwas not aware of this incidentā but emphasized that, as an āexhibit sponsor,ā Bergstrand was not a speaker, organizer, or āprofessing doctrine from the stage.ā
āOne of the core tenets of the Christian faith is forgiveness rooted in repentance. After discussing the issue with him, we believe [it] was critical to bringing him to faith,ā Kolvet added. āHe doesnāt hide from what happened, he instead posts his testimony online on his company website. TPUSA Faith will not toss away a repentant, decent person because of a mistake that happened over a decade before, or because a leftwing outlet wants to write a hit piece on the amazing work our team is doing.ā Kolvet included a reference to Colossians 3:13, a Bible verse that reads, in part, āForgive as the Lord forgave you.ā
In todayās conservative movement, nothing animates activists like the supposed liberal indoctrination of children. The religious right, in particular, espouses unhinged rhetoric about how youth are being āgroomedā into trans- and LGBTQ ideology by Luciferian leftists.
Riding this wave of populist anger, Kirk and TPUSA have made a hard pivot from the organizationās stated aim, of preaching free-market economics to students, to embrace the cause of Christian nationalism, and marshaling church leaders to the frontlines of GOP politics.
At the Pastors Summit, Kirk responded to Rolling Stoneās coverage of his groupās new crusade. āFirst of all, itās not my Turning Point,ā Kirk insisted of his organization. āItās the Lordās Turning Point.ā He added: āI am both a Christian and a nationalist, but most importantly, Iām a Christian.ā
One of the sponsors for this summit ā alongside firms like Patriot Mobile and American Christian Credit Union ā is Rightside Up, a Christian ālifestyle apparelā company that sews tags reading āBSITLā (āBe Strong in the Lordā) into its t-shirts and other clothing. The companyās website declares: āWe all have a life story, and it doesnāt matter where weāve been. Itās where we are going that counts!ā
The companyās CEO, Bergstrand, has a prison conviction in his life story. Heās a registered sex offender in North Dakota, a designation the stateās registry indicates will remain active until 2030.
Bergstrand was convicted in 2014 for attempted ācoercion and enticement.ā The details of the criminal complaint are sealed, but a redacted indictment shows that Bergstrand was originally charged with attempting to āentice and coerce a minor female ā¦ to engage in prostitution and sexual activity.ā (A contemporaneous news report on Bergstrandās arrest includes other, disturbing allegations that do not appear in the federal court record.)
Bergstrand quickly reached a plea deal that removed mention of prostitution. The criminal āinformationā in Bergstrandās guilty plea states that in June and July of 2013 he ādid knowingly attempt to persuade, induce, entice and coerce a minor femaleā to āengage in sexual activity.ā
Bergstrand did not respond to requests for comment, but his address on North Dakotaās sex offender registry matches the registration address for Bergstrand and Rightside Up in a corporate registry maintained by North Dakotaās secretary of state. Bergtrandās photo on the offender registry also matches video of the apparel CEO from RightsideUpās website.
Despite facing a maximum of 20 years in jail, Bergstrand received a sentence of one year in prison, and five years of supervised release. He was discharged from supervision more than a year early in 2018.
In promotional videos for Rightside Up, Berstrand speaks, obliquely, of his life struggles. āAt one time in my life, I lost absolutely completely everything,ā he says. But he touts the apparel company as his way to get right with Jesus. āGod gives us second chances, third chances, fourth chances,ā he says. āItās up to us what weāre going to do with it.ā
Bergstrandās association with TPUSA was brought to Rolling Stoneās attention by Matthew Boedy, a professor at the University of North Georgia who has also written about TPUSAās odd leap from economic to religious dogma.
āIām all for second chances and paying your debt to society. Even perhaps creating a brand based on how you overcame your own terrible decisions,ā Boedy says, referring to Bergstrand. āBut for Turning Point and Charlie Kirk to highlight this particular person ā whose crime involved a child and attempted sexual acts ā while decrying āgroomersā and sending mobs to stores who sell products they donāt like, is beyond hypocritical.ā

My 17 year year old sister works at a charity shop part time (10 hours a week). The charity shop she works at has 4 stores within a mile of each other so the managers often work at different stores depending on need.
My sister has worked there for a year, always been hardworking and never missed a shift. Her work ethic isn't in question here.
One of the managers didn't want her to have the job in the first place due to her age. Fair enough I can see not wanting to employ someone who will most likely leave when they go uni, can't work certain hours etc.
However it's gotten to the point this manager is bullying her. Speaking to her in a very aggressive tone, ignoring her questions and scolding her for doing things that SHE asked for.
Last week she made a phone call she didnt think my sister would hear saying 'I'm dying to get rid of her, if she says one thing she's gone'.
I've of course advised her to contact ACAS for their advice but it's got to the point my sister is scared of going to work in case this manager is in store.
The bullying is a HR issue I imagine but if she up and sacks her would she have any recourse in terms of discrimination and if so what could she hope for? My sister loves the job and is a good worker, this particular manager just makes her life hell and has the power to sack her.

I've of course advised her to contact ACAS for their advice but it's got to the point my sister is scared of going to work in case this manager is in store.
The bullying is a HR issue I imagine but if she up and sacks her would she have any recourse in terms of discrimination and if so what could she hope for? My sister loves the job and is a good worker, this particular manager just makes her life hell and has the power to sack her.
