2023.06.03 21:22 jpcowwh01 Spectrum Internet outage approaching hour 24.
I’m pretty frustrated with spectrum cable right now. They had an outage that started yesterday at 4p and hasn’t been resolved yet. We’re approaching the 24 mark now and this seems unheard of to be out this long over a non disaster related incident. From my understanding, a 3rd party cut a fiber optic cable somewhere and it took their whole network offline. I would have assumed they would have had built in redundancy to make sure their services were resilient enough for a failure point. If anyone works there and can provide any information or assistance with this I would appreciate it. Looking at other internet providers and seeing what my options are.

2023.06.02 16:15 elr952 2+ Week Fios Outage?
Our Fios internet went out on Tuesday, May 16. We got a helpful message from Verizon saying service would be restored by the following day at 8am. Since then, Verizon has been sending us helpful messages every 12 to 72 hours saying that our service should be restored in ~12 hours. It’s now June 2 and we still have no internet. It’s not like we’re in the boonies. We live in a 250 unit apartment building in Manhattan and, so far as I can tell, only a few apartments are affected. I’ve tried calling multiple times, but can’t get any specific information, they just claim it’s being worked on because there’s an open ticket. I feel like we’re being gaslit. Is there any way to speak to someone local who has actual knowledge of the repair situation? Did our outage fall through the cracks and we’re waiting while nothing happens?
(We would have canceled our service and switched to Spectrum two weeks ago, but we’re moving soon. To add insult to injury, our new apartment is only serviced by Verizon, so we’ll have to go crawling back, regardless.)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🙏🙏

2023.06.01 19:05 Sea-Willingness-708 Spectrum internet?
Anyone in the Monkey Junction area with Spectrum internet having major issues with outages today & yesterday? It was down all day yesterday, staring at around 9-9:30am. Was back on this morning but went down again around 10:30. Spectrum has been 0 help. Just wondering WTF is going on & how long I need to have contingency plans since we work from home. And on that note, any really good spots with wifi that you’ve worked from in Wilmington?

2023.06.01 03:25 webrunner42 Is this normal
I've been on Optimum online for almost 10 years and through countless modems (currently my own surfboard l, multiple houses, multiple outages multiple tech visits but every once in a while, usually after I see one of their vans in the area or after an outage, for several days my internet just drops for several minutes at random multiple times a day. Every issue I've ever had with them has shown up like this. Once it was water in the cable but every other time has had nothing help. The worst part is that it's. Basically impossible to get them to help because if someone comes and it's not currently happening everything looks normal.
It's not a bad signal, the modem stays connected the whole time, there's no change in the spectrum analyzer, it's just working normally then just goes 100% packet loss then back to normal like nothing happened.

2023.05.31 19:24 Ivisi For some inexplicable reason, I can't order Quantum Fiber service at my home
I've talked to numerous people in CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber, I've gotten nowhere with either of them and no one seems to be able to find anyone who can solve my issue. I'm hoping someone here might be able to offer some insight or point me in a different direction I can take.
First, the backstory: I had CenturyLink gigabit fiber service at my home. It was great, when it was up. Due to some construction in my area, there seemed to be a wire cut once every few weeks that would cause massive service outages in my area that usually lasted anywhere between 18 hours to 2-3 days. I work from home and I really could not afford the downtime, even though the service outage wasn't caused by CL but by external construction. A few weeks ago, on day 2 of the latest outage, I walked into Spectrum's local store as the Spectrum users in my neighborhood never had any outage issues. I explained to the rep at Spectrum that I wanted to switch to their gig service, they signed me up (more expensive than CL, but at least the uptime was much better) and within 30 minutes of being home I was online with Spectrum and cancelling my CL service.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I noticed that some of my daily work tasks were taking much longer than they used to. As part of my job, I need to download backups of databases to my local development environment in order to use them to develop changes and new features of the project I'm working on. I got curious and ran a few random speed tests and noticed I was only getting about 400 megs, whereas on CL I would always get 800+ megs, usually approaching the 1 gig mark. So I logged into my Spectrum account to open a ticket. That's when I noticed they signed me up, not for 1 gig service, but for 500meg service. So, now I'm paying more than I was before for half the speed I got before. Talked to several people at Spectrum, and the bottom line is, if I want gig speed, I need to upgrade to it and pay even more. No thanks, I'll go back to CL. Might have some occasional downtime, but that's better than being lied to and swindled.
Here's where my issue comes into play. When I called to get my service restored for CL, they told me that I would now have to go through Quantum Fiber. Called Quantum, they said fiber service wasn't available at my address. Well, that's strange, I had fiber service at my address as of 4 weeks before this. They suggested to go back to CL, since my original service was with them, so they transfer me back to them. CL says they can't offer me fiber, but they can offer me phone. I don't need phone service. So they send me back to Quantum. I then got bounced around other Quantum personnel and no one could figure out why my address wouldn't allow for new service.
I got curious and started spot checking the houses around me. Every single one of my neighbors can sign up for new Quantum service according to Quantum's verification site. Just not mine. I called back and relayed this information, again speaking to several different people after getting transferred around, and still no one can seem to determine why every address around me comes up as a Yes but only mine comes up as a No.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue with them, or maybe something similar with another provider? Is there another point of contact I can attempt to talk to at Quantum, someone who may have better knowledge or a better skillset to determine what the hangup is since their first-line customer service people don't seem to have the know-how on how to resolve this issue? I want to dump Spectrum as soon as I can, and Quantum is my only other option here.

2023.05.31 14:11 Icuh8me2 Windstream done won't go back!
| I've had Windstream at new house for a year. In the last month internet has been slow. Tech has been out several times most recently last week for 3 hours and he even called for some additional help, 2 techs! They cannot figure out what is wrong with connection. Gave me new modem, change connectors outside, even installed new line to house. Connection still slow. Pay for 1gb service, speed test of late are as low as 75mbps up to 250mbps. Log into app and it shows outage in area. Last time tech was here he said to call back in 48 hours if not resolved. Called back again and had to go through the whole thing again for them to tell me we will have to send a tech out again! I am so done with Windstream. Last time appointment was supposed to be between 8-12. Didn't show up till 12:30 and stayed till 3:30 to not resolve issue. Called Spectrum they offer same speed 1gbps for 59 just like Windstream. Switching over to Spectrum!!! submitted by Icuh8me2 to Windstream [link] [comments] |
2023.05.31 08:35 Dragon_Avalon Aether+ NA data center connection issues (the system, is down)?
Hey folks. Anyone else getting an error 2002 on Aether when trying to connect to the data center all of a sudden?
Started without warning just a few moments ago, and I'm trying to do a pulse check to see if it's down for anyone else. Server status sites are showing it's up for the moment, but no luck getting in. I can get past the login screen just fine, but on the title screen it just crashes with that 2002 error.
Edit update 1:
I've tested it with Crystal and Dynamis as well, and both are throwing the same errors. I think it's safe to say the system is down for NA. Testing other regions and will update shortly!
Edit update 2: Can confirm that JP is up, but EU appears to be down as well.
Edit update 3:
A 2002 error seems to be related to a large number of people trying to connect simultaneously, which implies that the issue is widespread. Most likely theory is that some of the servers or nodes died, and may need to be given maintenance.
Edit update 4:
Based on feedback from other users, the issue seems to be primarily centralized in Florida and tied to the ISP "Spectrum" aka Charter.
(What sort of Florida man nonsense is going on now??)
If you're in another region, have a different ISP, or in a different state and are experiencing this issue, please do comment!
If you are impacted in Florida and /or on another local service provider other than spectrum, please do provide the ISP name!
Thank you to all the people commenting, as it's helping pinpoint the impact zone, outage size, and source of the issue!
Edit update 5:
Data is coming in that the issue is spreading outside the state of Florida, and is directly tied to the CharteSpectrum ISP. Please be sure to call your provider and inform them of the issue! The more reports they get, the faster this issue should be resolved!

2023.05.31 00:48 Bostonianm Fuck Xfinity and all ISPs
Whether its west coast or east coast, Frontier, Comcast, or Spectrum they all do the same shit. You pay for a certain speed, you get 15% of the month as scattered random 2002 blackberry quality internet, 80% of the month as half the speed you pay for and 5% (and that's generous) total blackout. And then you talk to customer support or you look at their websites outage map, and there is never any problems! ALL GOOD ON OUR END! And the bills always come in for 100% of the price you pay for but never see.
Edit: Ill add too, multiple different devices, different routers and modems, wired and wifi, the problem is always there, so ISPs if the problem isn't on your end where the fuck is it? Because it sure as shit isn't on my end.

2023.05.30 23:04 Biocockspeedrunner Paranoia
A lot of you just seem paranoid that spectrum is out to get you. Whether it's an outage, speed drops, intermittency, cable services not reacting correctly, billing prices. You seem super willing to think that spectrum just has it out for you specifically when in reality it probably has to do with the fact that someone somewhere made a mistake.
Be upset about that all you want. That's fine. But a lot of the posts I see in here are just rants or raves about simple fixes that if you spent 35 seconds on the phone with spectrum would get resolved within the same minute.
Overall, I feel like you guys are just looking for fights whether aren't any.

2023.05.30 01:13 Tiarella_Cygnet Anyone Else Having Issues with Spectrum Intermittent Outages in the last 2 Days?
For the last 2 days I am having intermittent internet outages at my home on all my devices. I tried resetting the modem, I tried another modem, same issue. It typically lasts 20-30 minutes, then it is back to normal. Anyone else having issues?
Update: Called Spectrum, they said it is most likely the box outside the house. They are sending a technician.

2023.05.24 21:28 Redwoodcurtain8 ISPs offline. Is it just Spectrum?
once again, we have an outage with spectrum locally here in Lincoln.
My question for this group is, are all the ISPs down or just spectrum?
My growing suspicion is spectrum lacks the necessary redundancy of routes and equipment for the Lincoln service area

2023.05.21 16:48 OpportunityLow570 Is 1 Gig speed worth it?
I will be changing to AT&T Fiber. I got the 1 GIG speed for $80 a month but I also get a $30 discount so I will only be paying $50 a month. I work from home. I live with 2 other people. My child uses her tablet and my man is a gamer. Now I’m wondering if I should have just got the 500 MG. It’s crazy because with spectrum I was only on 300 MG and was paying $50 a month. The only ones who would have trouble is my daughter and husband. And we would have outages with spectrum too that affected me working from home.

2023.05.21 16:35 screamingrubberband Spectrum on-site techs, you guys rock. Spectrum phone-room operators, you guys... don't.
We woke up to connectivity issues. Not good for working remotely from a home office.
Went through the normal power cycle and reboot routines. Connection comes and goes randomly. Called phone support.
Spectrum operator: "We can't access your modem so you have to take it to the spectrum store and have it replaced."
Did that. No change.
Spectrum operator: "Your router must be bad. You need to replace it." Explained we have connected the ethernet cable directly to the modem and it still comes and goes in 30-second to 5-minute intervals.
Operator's supervisor: "We can't connect to your router because you are using your own router so you need to replace it to rule it out. There's nothing else we can do."
Called back an hour later and lied. "We replaced our router (wink) and we still don't get a stable signal from the modem to the PC when we have it hooked directly to the modem."
Spectrum operator: "Since you use your own router we can't diagnose your problem. We'll have to schedule a tech to come to you."
He never showed up.
Spectrum operator: "Our system shows you cancelled the appointment. Are you saying you still want a tech to come out?" (Side note - we've documented 8 times in the 7 years we've lived here that we've been told "Our system shows you cancelled the appointment." But I digress.)
Next day, everything is working. Thousandeyes shows outages in our area in the previous 24 hours. Tech shows up.
Spectrum tech: "We had outages all day all over the county yesterday. They should have known this. They should not have made you go to the store and replace our modem. They should not have told you to replace your router. If you were hard-wired into the modem and still having issues they never should have told you to replace your router." (yeah - no shit.)
Spectrum tech: "As long as I'm here, let me check the signal inside, check the wiring outside and at the pole."
No issues. Checks our account. "Why are you paying an extra $5 per month for wireless if you aren't using our router???"
Us: "Because spectrum operators and a spectrum supervisor told us repeatedly over the past year that we have to pay the extra $5 since we are using your signal wirelessly even after we returned your modem last year."
Spectrum tech: Face palm. Calls some magic phone number, identifies himself, says "billing error" and now we aren't paying an extra $5 per month.
Spectrum tech: "I am so sorry they made you replace the modem and gave you such bad advice and have been charging you extra for no reason."
Spectrum phone operators need a slogan. I suggest: "Spectrum phone support. We're not happy until you're not happy. ®"
edit - clarified chain of events.
