My fiancé (M27) and I (F27) are living in Southern California (born and raised) and were thinking about moving across the country to Western Massachusetts’s. He has a job offer for 65k.
Our current situation: Him: General manager at a retail store $55k, has both parents in CA but likely they will move out of state soon. He has a friend in MA. Me: government job at $65k, pension, only single parent in NV that does not fly in airplanes, I’m still close enough o make a trip by driving. Combined: Close to no debt (~3k credit cards), $40k in savings, no car payment. No kids but want to have a family.
We appreciate nature and greenery, we’re interested in what a slower pace of life feels like, I’m interested in what it’s like to be a stay at home mom. I’m nervous about leaving a very stable job, income and pension behind but is it even worth it? We can’t even buy a condo out in CA due to the extremely high cost of living.
What should we thinking about as we consider moving across the country from a city to a rural area? Any insight with pros or cons. It snows in MA, which we have no experience with. What kind of car would we need? Anyone here live in Western Mass?
We will be spending 1.5 weeks in Western Massachusetts. What should we be looking at or for when exploring?
Have you done anything like this in your lifetime? What type of emotions did you feel?

I’m a beginner to all things cameras.. but I recently bought an original BMPCC which came with a 35mm SLR Magic Cine II lens.
From what i’ve been reading about focal lengths, 35mm seems like it should be a decent not-too-zoomed lens. But it seems that from my using it so far, it seems a bit TOO zoomed. I have to position myself quite far away to film people.
I was also confused at why the front of the lens says “52mm” on it.
Is it something to do with the BMPCC sensor or something? or is this just what a 35mm looks like - do i need to go for a 24mm or a 16 maybe??

We met in 2022 in the current school year, we are both seniors. We hit it off when we met in art class and get along great, he's a great listener and loves to torment me with dad jokes. He's gotten me pretty earrings for my birthday and when I've been at a low point regarding my mental health, he was there on the phone ready to listen and give advice. I eventually fell for him. And I have to mention that he has his own self esteem issues as well, he's overweight and he thinks he's ugly for some reason, he's also told me that he was bullied throughout elementary and middle school and struggles with anxiety and depression.
Last Friday we had art last period and I worked up the courage to ask him out, I wore the earrings, I wore a pretty sundress (tried and failed to put on makeup so I just washed it off). Before class ended I brought him to a corner where people wouldn't see or hear us and I asked him if he wanted to go see a movie or have lunch as a date. He seemed stunned so I asked again but half way through he stopped me and said " look (my name) your wonderful and super cute but you can do so much better, don't lower yourself to someone like me" before I could respond the bell rang and he quickly got away from me. That night I cried into my pillow and we haven't spoken since, I see him tomorrow, did I do something wrong? What am I supposed to say to him when I see him next. Should I just drop it, I still have feelings for him?

Hey everyone!
I am a 29M, 223lbs, 5’ 11”. I work outside 3-4 days a week can be pretty strenuous.
My goal is 185, with my calories set to 2050 which is 1.5 lbs per week. So that’ll take 6-7months.
I’m in a good place in life and I really think I can nail dieting down. The only issue I’m having is finding the right / healthiest one.
I’ve done keto before, and I was losing weight which was great but I felt extremely limited to what I could eat. I would log every tsp of this and that to where it became stressful and eventually I broke.
I’ve done very restrictive calorie diets which I learned aren’t healthy and hard to complete unless you have insane willpower and want to feel awful daily (at least I did).
I’m currently doing a Lowcarb diet 15% net carbs, 25% protein and 65% fats. It’s been a pretty great week so far. I am going to aim for the macros as much as I can but if I miss a little here or there I’m not going to self destruct. BUT I will still hit my calories or very close to it if I miss my macros.
I want to be healthy though too. Is another path better? Or is this good?
Any recommendations, advice?

I have lived in my current neighborhood since I was 5, and over time, my parents became very close with our neighbors. Our properties are separated by a line of trees that stop about 50 feet before a creek. About 10 years ago, my parents and my neighbors decided to build a chicken coop in that shared space, following all of our county’s rules on keeping chickens according to the smaller property (ours). These chickens have been around for the past decade, and not one issue has arisen- we frequently give away excess eggs to the rest of the neighborhood, which was much appreciated at the time.
About three months ago, my parents passed away (neither of them had a will, and I am the oldest child (and only adult child at the time of their passing)). I am essentially running the household on my own, which is where the problems begin.
First comes sudden complaints about the chickens. Sudden fines and tickets(?) (upwards of $20,000, some backdated to 2015) and complaints are being issued against me, and me alone, about our chickens. I asked my neighbors if they had any complaints, and they were floored - they have offered to help me with the fines, but I don’t want to owe anyone anything until I know for sure I’ve done something wrong. The neighbors also talked to the HOA board inquiring about the sudden issue, but did not receive any answers because the dispute “did not involve them”.
The timing is also very odd, as my parents were friends with many people on the HOA board (and also board members themselves!) and when they passed, the board members sent in care packages and delivered resources to my siblings and i in support of us when we were grieving. These care packages stopped the month before I was hit with these fines. I have also had multiple wellness checks over the past month, where police have shown up at my door at strange hours, which may be unrelated, but I am suspicious that someone is trying to drive me out from pure frustration.
No idea if this is relevant, but the house is almost fully paid off (5 years left on the mortgage). HOA fees are current and automated, and the HOA president himself assisted me in switching the payments from my parents’ bank account to mine (our payment plan is a monthly one).
Does our HOA have a real leg to stand on, considering the chickens belong to both my neighbors and I, and only one of us is getting pushback? Also, when my parents were part of the HOA board, why were these issues never brought up when they were alive? I would appreciate advice on lawyering up if it comes to that. Thank you in advance.

I had posts and comments stating that "I accepted my fate", but honestly that seems to be far from the truth. I still feel that burning desire in me. A desire which makes it so difficult to abstain. A craving which makes it so difficult to focus and be disciplined. A longing which keeps bugging and nagging me whenever I am left in peace, whenever I have some alone time.
I cannot explain why it is so difficult to accept that I will never be married. It is so difficult to accept that it is better for me to be single.
Rationally, I have all the reasons and logic gathered to explain and solidify that I will never find someone and that this is actually the best outcome for me and my potential hypothetical wife. Yet, the desire, the craving, the longing flame inside of me keeps still burning.
I suppose this is just a vent. Thanks for reading. I appreciate any input.

Hi,
I have a FWP in Modem-mode behind which sits a NAS running Plex. This FWP also has a 3rd Party VPN which I sometimes use for specific devices.
I'd rather my ISP didn't know I have a Plex server streaming to family/friends, so I created a Route for all traffic matching Plex port (32400) on my NAS to be routed through the specific 3rd Party VPN through the app, but doesn't seem to be tunneling this traffic, though Plex still works.
The only way I have of validating that this Route isn't working is that since I activated the rule, I've checked the 'Sent' field in the VPN part of the app and it's still quite low, despite multiple steams outside of my network having taken place and the Firewalla App showing large uploads for the NAS.
Two questions:

1. Is there any other way to check whether Plex traffic is being routed through a VPN besides the rudimentary 'Sent' field in the app? The sure-fire way would be asking a streaming Plex user to identify the IP being used, but this goes beyond their technical abilities.
2. I could do a workaround by adding all known Plex user IPs to a Target List, and create a Route with that, but it wouldn't be a 'clean' fix IMO, and I'd like to know why exactly this isn't working.
3. I have a port being forwarded on my FWP to my Plex, let's say 32500 - would I need to add this to the Route in any way?

I think Cristobal should’ve died in the Noho hourglass. I think the choice to have him survive the Noho hourglass only to be killed by a henchman later is weird and kind of absolves Hank, where if Cristobal had died in the hourglass it would mean Hank’s finger was actually on the trigger and he’d be directly responsible. My husband (26) and I (22) have been having issues lately. Back story me and my husband are somewhat newly weds we’ve been married for a good year with an 8 month old baby, and we aren’t the richest couple so you can say we’re financially not stable he’s the only one working at the moment because I’m on a paid maternity leave ($300 biweekly) and even then we’re struggling. Anyways I overheard about a month ago that his sister (37) who works, lives in a government assisting housing and also gets paid by the government for her 2 kids was telling my husband I quote “ I need the April 250 and May 250”.. I asked my husband later that night what did she mean by that and he’s like she complained to him about her bills and he said he’ll help her. I was beyond fuming because he didn’t understand how I felt, I felt like we (a family with only one working member and a 8 month old baby who has needs) could use the money more, he was like “I’m not a rich person I’ll give her probably like a $100 or whatever I can”. Then yesterday I heard her asking him for junes money, now I’m thinking he’s helping her with her bills.I’m also pissed because she calls my husband and includes him in her and her ex husband’s shenanigans which I told him a thousand times to stay out of and that he needs to start prioritizing his family which he already started. Whenever I lash out he doesn’t understand where it’s coming from instead he blames the devil’s whispers and brings religion into it. I didn’t speak to his sister about it because he told me to be respectful and tbh when I’m angry I don’t know how to put my feelings to the side so I become the complete opposite of respectful. Oh and I forgot to mention it’s not like he’s the only person she has, she has 3 other brothers whom work and with no family of their own. Am I overreacting?

I have bought an american candy shop in germany 7 months ago. It is the only one in the area of around 60 kilometers. It was very cheap and the previous owners let the shop die because they weren't really interested in candy. When I started it was quiet, but after 2 months the hype about Takis began exploding. It really was not normal how much Takis I was selling. 6 Months in to the business and I began wholeselling. I bought Takis from an european Supplier and sold them out immediately. People are really losing their mind over here. I am really looking for an opportunity to buy Takis directly and it is so hard to find, I try to find an american supplier in general. I have no experience with reddit and how it works but I thought maybe it is a good opportunity.

I have too much stuff. Way too much stuff. I KNOW that I have too much stuff and that it is holding me back from having a future. I think to myself “I have to get rid of some of this stuff because it is weighing me down.”
For context I have a sentimental and ‘aspirational’ hoard of old stuff from my childhood and many items that I have collected from ‘free piles’ and dumpsters etc. The financial value of my hoard is nothing and no one else would see any value in it, although this doesn’t stop me from wanting to keep it.
Then when I try to sort through items I am brought back to ‘that funny moment at this certain place’ or ‘I could do this, this or this, with this item’ and I can’t part with it. I also don’t have the strength to part with boxes of stuff without looking, as I nearly did this once, and after changing my mind and looking through the box I found something very valuable to me.
I quickly get overwhelmed and although I can part with some stuff, maybe 15 to 20% (of what I sort through) at best, its going at a snail's pace and I am disappointed that I can’t just get rid of stuff like a regular person!
When I try to get rid of an item, I feel like I am throwing myself away, even though these are items like old school books that I haven’t looked at in years, or broken/damaged bits and bobs that I hope to repair to give them a new life. I am not so happy in my life currently and although everything wasn’t perfect during my earlier years, I feel like I am throwing away my happy memories by getting rid of my stuff. How could I throw away all of these things that I have valued so much?
I feel guilt that I cannot restore/fix items as fast as I acquire them. I feel bad for the items that they have been thrown away and that is one reason that I collect them from being trashed, so how can I be just as wasteful by getting rid of those items again?
I don’t want to have barely any space, I don’t want to be a hoarder, I don’t want to live in a hoard, I don’t want to feel so miserable being in spaces that should bring me joy, but getting rid of the items is just as painful and I seem to have lived in this limbo for far too long while getting nowhere.
I don’t know what help I am asking for particular; I just know that this is the only place I can contact where people will ‘get it.’

I (40m) feel bad about how I treated my college gf (41f) literally decades ago, and want to apologize
It’s wedding season, my college gf and I are both happily married to other people, both have kids, everything has really worked out for both of us.
I saw her at a wedding last night and will see her at another wedding later this summer too, and probably periodically thereafter as we have the same general broader friend group. We avoid eachother hard even when we’re the only two people on the dancefloor, we go out of our way to not speak or acknowledge one another.
I was a terrible boyfriend in college. I was in a frat and just kind of a dick- exactly what you imagine. She was the stereotypical “good girl”-exactly what you imagine. We barely knew eachother in highschool, then by her misfortune we both went to the same college, she got really cute, etc etc.
I cheated on her, multiple times, I was not a supportive partner ever, I never really opened up about my own insecurities and never really supported her in hers. Did I mention the cheating? I think she assumed when she decided to lose her virginity to me that we’d get married. We did not.
I’ll clarify that I was never physically abusive, by college standards or any other, even in the most critical hindsight.
We broke up in a spectacular fiery weekend implosion during a trip 4 years after we got together, went our separate ways (to ultimately fulfilling careers, marriages, families in different parts of the country), never spoke again.
For lack of a better term, I got better. I asked my now wife if she’d join me for over a year of couples’ counseling prior to our getting married about 12 years ago. I learned how to be a supportive partner, learned a lot about relationships, and am really proud of the marriage and life we’ve built.
Anyway, lately I just feel like I want to apologize to my college ex somehow, but also this feels sort of masturbatory and weird. Is there anything that any pf you ladies would want to hear from a shitty ex almost 20 years later? Any kind of apology that would be better than silence? Do we just keep avoiding eachother and eventually die?
There may be some things I’m just supposed to feel bad about, some things may have no resolution.

This is not exclusively related to me and my crush but i am feeling more and more alone as the days go by and i just dont know where else to post this.
Ever since i got out of school 2 years ago, ive noticed how much of an extrovert i really am. I am still around people a lot (i go to practice 3 times a week, im doing an internship rn and every minute i get, i try to do something with friends), but the second i get home and/or out of a social situation, i feel extremely overwhelmed by loneliness. I hate this feeling. Its eating me from the inside and i cant fight it. I try to talk to my friends about it or watch a move/show i enjoy but it just doesnt get better. I get all of my energy from people and i hate being alone.
That said, ofc that feeling is even worse when it comes to my crush. I want to spend every second of the day with her. Im totally addicted to hanging out with her. I hate when our hangouts end. I know she just sees me as a friend which is why i get her needing time for herself and not wanting to spend that much time together. Last weekend i stayed over at her house after we went out but initially i wasnt supposed to stay over for long. I asked her beforehand if i could sleep over but she didnt feel like it so i wanted to drive home after. However i got pretty tired and she didnt want me driving home in that state, so she told me to just sleep at her place. I know she mustve been fed up by that but i wasnt...it is so weird to know one could spend much more time with her, while the other person doesnt feel the same and therefore has a limit.
I am really scared for my future... am i ever gonna be independent? Currently i feel like i would love someone to come home to... but i know i cant force it. I want to hang out with my friends all the time, but... they dont have the need for it as much as i do... How do i cope with this situation? I am feeling very unwell!
