2023.06.04 23:06 Florida-Man-65 My ideas for LM4
Luigi's Mansion 3 was a big success, which hopefully means the series will be sticking around. I figured I'd throw out my idea for a fourth game for the heck of it.
My idea for LM4 is that it would be set in Daisy's castle in Sarassaland. King Boo and Helen Gravely have overrun the castle by releasing the various ghosts and spirits of the land. Daisy herself has been put in a painting, which is hung in her throne room. The door is accessible early on, but it's both locked and barred with paranormal chains that are maintained by the bosses/portrait ghosts, forcing Luigi to hunt them down with the help of E Gadd and Polterpup. The key, however, is in the hands of one of the first game's portrait ghosts(take your pick, mine would be Melody), whose painting ended up in Daisy's possession at one point and is once again guarding the key in exchange for being free.
So that's my idea for a premise for the fourth game, though there are plenty of other great ideas. Somebody once suggested a train, which would be awesome. But feel free to throw your own ideas for plot, gameplay, etc into the mix in the comments, or critique/build on mine. I figured it would be something fun to do.

2023.06.04 23:05 WishfulHibernian6891 Tall white figure in wooded area
I am sharing this for a family member, who is the person who experienced this. Anyway — twice she has seen a very tall, human-shaped white figure on the edge of wooded areas along rural roads near our house. And once she saw it at the end of our house, and at that time she thinks she saw a hand/fingers wrapped around one of our exterior walls. She estimates the height at about 7 feet, and no distinguishable features except for its humanoid shape, and that it is very white. Both times when she drove past the figure, her radio has given way to static. A friend of hers has also seen it, but he didn’t share his story until she brought up hers. I suspect they aren’t the only two people in our rural community who have seen it, but I haven’t heard about any other sightings. She doesn’t get a negative or frightening feeling from it. Any ideas about what it might be?

2023.06.04 23:05 valr99 Help with Smoker Table maintenance
Hey folks - first time posting one of my projects. Looking for maintenance advice, pictures to follow. I built a table for my smoker using walnut wood, which was stained with a walnut stain, then applied epiphanes on it to weather and water proof the material. Over the winter, the wood is aging as you would expect a little but with some variance. I do have a cover for the table to prevent direct sun or too much direct weather exposure. Couple questions - never had a nice custom table to maintain. 1. Any suggestions on annual treatments to keep it from weathering too much? (Picture 1 shows full table setup) 2. Any suggestion on dealing with the separation in the boards? The boards were initially kissing when I winterized the table. Pictures show the separation.(Picture 2/3 show creasing) 3. Any advice on why some edges are losing color quicker than others? (Picture 4) submitted by valr99 to woodworking [link] [comments]
2023.06.04 23:05 JoshAsdvgi THE MAN AND THE RAVENS
THE MAN AND THE RAVENS An Anishnabe Legend There once was a man that enjoyed watching the black Raven's fly around, play, squawk, and chatter. He enjoyed them so much he would climb trees just to be closer to them. For many months the Ravens ignored the man, but after a while, one of the Ravens flew from a nearby tree and landed directly next to the man. In utter amazement, the bird spoke to the man and asked, "You have been watching us for a long time. You have tried to get close to us. Why do you do this?" The man replied, "I mean no harm. I have become enchanted with you and all your relatives. I enjoy the play, the squawking, and I wish I could learn your language so I could understand more about you." Then the Raven responded, "We are honored that you want to know us, as long as you do not cause harm, we will teach you our language." For many months the Ravens taught the man all about the language and how the Ravens lived from day to day. The man became so educated that he knew everything there was to know about the Ravens. Many of the Ravens saw the man and accepted him as a friend. One day, an older Raven was flying far over the man, dropped a walnut perfectly on the man's head. It was done on purpose and all the Ravens almost fell off their branches laughing so hard the way they do. One Raven was flying and was laughing so hard he had to crash land right in front of the man. The man was feeling bad and was hurt by being made fun of, so he asked the Raven in front of him, "Why are you all picking on me." The Raven stopped laughing and became very serious. "We thought you understood us, but apparently you don't. If you did you would know that we are not mocking you... well maybe a bit, but it is done in our way of having fun. We are 'playing' with you and that is all. It is not to be taken seriously. You should know us better." The man took sometime to understand this and over time a few more practical jokes were played on the man and he in turn pulled a few "good ones" on the birds. A good time was had by all and the man became even closer to the Ravens. Then another event occurred. A young Raven swooped out of the sky and pecked the man on the head. Then another young Raven swooped down and did the same thing. The man ran across the field and into the woods but the Ravens kept chasing him and very skillfully they flew at high speeds through the woods tormenting the man. Finally the two stopped and started to yell mean words, fighting words at the man. Again the man did not understand, but he knew the two Ravens were very mad at him, so he decided to leave and let the Ravens be. The man went away for many months. As he did his duties in the his tribal village, he told all the people about his adventures and what he learned about the Ravens. Some listened with intent, others just thought the man was a fool to study the Ravens so. The villagers gave the man a new name of "Black Feather" because of his close relationship to the birds, but the man objected and said, "I am no longer close to the Raven people." From above there was a squawking sound of a single Raven. Some of the people looked up and were surprised that they could understand the Raven, others just looked around because they could hear nothing but squawking. The Raven was speaking to the man and said, "It is true, you are closer to us than any Anishinabe (Human) has ever come. You are close, but you still don't understand us fully. I invite you to return to us, many miss you." Black Feather started to follow the Raven but then stopped at the edge of the village. He looked around to make sure no other Anishinabe could hear then asked the Raven, "why do you ask me back when the two Ravens where fighting with me and were mean." "The Raven landed at Black Feathers feet and said, "See how little you understand us. The two young Ravens did not fight with you because you are Anishinabe, it is because they accepted you as a member of the Raven people. You should know that we fight among ourselves too. It is a part of our way of life. Instead of sulking and leaving you should have fought back." Black Feather stood in silence and said, "There is much about Ravens I don't understand. Maybe we are too different people to ever understand each other. I should stop and return to my people in the village." The Raven again shook his head and told Black Feather, "That is your choice, but again I tell you that you have come closer to us Raven people than any other Anishinabe. Would you throw this all away just because you can't understand us yet?" Black Feather responded, "It's useless, how can I ever understand you, I can't even fly!" A thousand bursts of laughter was heard from all the surrounding trees and Black Feather knew that all the Raven People were there, hiding and listening. "Of course you can't fly. You are Anishinabe and we are Ravens. But we accept you as one of us. We play with you. We fight with you. We love you and want you back. We also recommend you don't try to fly in order to be like us, because then, you would not be Anishinabe nor a Raven but something else. We like you as an Anishinabe that understands us as Ravens. Join us or not the decision is yours." Black Feather returned to the Anishinabe village and bid everyone farewell because he had decided to live with the Raven people. After all the farewells and such he started to leave the village. All the Anishinabe people were there to see him off, and high over head was a thousand Raven's. Then from high above one of the older Ravens dropped a walnut shell and again with remarkable aim, plunked Black Feather right on the head. All the Ravens started laughing hard and all the Anishinabe were laughing too. Black Feather laughed and looked up at the old Raven and said, "Good one." submitted by JoshAsdvgi to Native_Stories [link] [comments]
2023.06.04 23:04 messy_111 Replacing Drawer Sliders on a Tippy Drawer?
TLDR: Will bottom-mounted sliders be enough to hold up a wooden drawer?
I recently purchased 2 wooden bedside table off of FB Marketplace - overall in pretty good condition, except for one annoyance; when you pull open the drawers, they immediately tilt downward and then slide all of the way out.
The guides are wooden and a bit warped. I want a way to stop the tilting, so am thinking of replacing with metal sliders (I found this hack but it seemed quite temporary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Znq5YoG33dw). However, the drawers sit flush in the table, so there is no room to add side sliders without some serious work.
Will bottom sliders be enough to hold the weight of the drawer so they don't tip forward? The drawers won't have heavy items in them, but are real wood so they aren't super light. Pictures included show the current wooden guides in the table and on the drawer. Right now they actually slide pretty good, so just looking for a solution to the tipping that doesn't require me to rip the drawers apart/redo.
Thanks!!

2023.06.04 23:04 JoshAsdvgi THE MAN AND THE OAK
THE MAN AND THE OAK There once lived a Sioux couple who had two children, a boy and a girl. Every fall this family would move away from the main camp and take up their winter quarters in a grove of timber some distance from the principal village. The reason they did this was that he was a great hunter and where a village was located for the winter the game was usually very scarce. Therefore, he always camped by himself in order to have an abundance of game adjacent to his camp. All summer he had roamed around following the tribe to wherever their fancy might take them. During their travels this particular year there came to the village a strange girl who had no relatives there. No one seemed very anxious to take her into their family, so the great hunter's daughter, taking a fancy to the poor girl, took her to their home and kept her. She addressed her as sister, and the parents, on account of their daughter, addressed her as daughter. This strange girl became desperately in love with the young man of the family, but being addressed as daughter by the parents, she could not openly show her feelings as the young man was considered her brother. In the fall when the main village moved into a large belt of timber for their winter quarters, the hunter moved on to another place two days' travel from the main winter camp, where he would not be disturbed by any other hunters. The young man had a tent by himself, and it was always kept nice and clean by his sister, who was very much attached to him. After a long day's hunt in the woods, he would go into his tent and lie down to rest, and when his supper was ready his sister would say, "My brother is so tired. I will carry his supper to him." Her friend, whom she addressed as sister, would never go into the young man's tent. Along towards spring there came one night into the young man's tent a woman. She sat down by the door and kept her face covered so that it was hidden from view. She sat there a long time and finally arose and went away. The young man could not imagine who this could be. He knew that it was a long distance from the village and could not make out where the woman could have come from. The next night the woman came again and this time she came a little nearer to where the young man lay. She sat down and kept her face covered as before. Neither spoke a word. She sat there for a long time and then arose and departed. He was very much puzzled over the actions of this woman and decided to ascertain on her next visit who she was. He kindled a small fire in his tent and had some ash wood laid on it so as to keep fire a long time, as ash burns very slowly and holds fire a long time. The third night the woman came again and sat down still nearer his bed. She held her blanket open just a trifle, and he, catching up one of the embers, flashed it in her face; jumping up she ran hurriedly out of the tent. The next morning he noticed that his adopted sister kept her face hidden with her blanket. She chanced to drop her blanket while in the act of pouring out some soup, and when she did so he noticed a large burned spot on her cheek. He felt so sorry for what he had done that he could eat no breakfast, but went outside and lay down under an oak tree. All day long he lay there gazing up into the tree, and when he was called for supper he refused, saying that he was not hungry, and for them not to bother him, as he would soon get up and go to bed. Far into the night he lay thus, and when he tried to arise he could not, as a small oak tree grew through the center of his body and held him fast to the ground. In the morning when the family awoke they found the girl had disappeared, and on going outside the sister discovered her brother held fast to the earth by an oak tree which grew very rapidly. In vain were the best medicine men of the tribe sent for. Their medicine was of no avail. They said: "If the tree is cut down the young man will die." The sister was wild with grief, and extending her hands to the sun, she cried: "Great Spirit, relieve my suffering brother. Any one who releases him I will marry, be he young, old, homely or deformed." Several days after the young man had met with the mishap, there came to the tent a very tall man, who had a bright light encircling his body. "Where is the girl who promised to marry any one who would release her brother?" "I am the one," said the young man's sister. "I am the all-powerful lightning and thunder. I see all things and can kill at one stroke a whole tribe. When I make my voice heard the rocks shake loose and go rattling down the hillsides. The brave warriors cower shivering under some shelter at the sound of my voice. The girl whom you had adopted as your sister was a sorceress. She bewitched your brother because he would not let her make love to him. On my way here I met her traveling towards the west, and knowing what she had done, I struck her with one of my blazing swords, and she lies there now a heap of ashes. I will now release your brother." So saying he placed his hand on the tree and instantly it crumbled to ashes. The young man arose, and thanked his deliverer. Then they saw a great black cloud approaching, and the man said: "Make ready, we shall go home on that cloud." As the cloud approached near to the man who stood with his bride, it suddenly lowered and enveloped them and with a great roar and amidst flashes of lightning and loud peals of thunder the girl ascended and disappeared into the west with her Thunder and Lightning husband. submitted by JoshAsdvgi to Native_Stories [link] [comments]
2023.06.04 23:04 tabbybros Planning to skim coat over oil paint. But contractors recommended different primers.
Condo is from the 1930s. I took off wallpaper and scrapped all the glue. However, when we removed the wallpaper, it removed the under-layer of paint. None of it is lead based. At some point, someone painted latex over oil and the oil is smooth. So, I’ve chipped 60% of the latex paint and planning to do 100%. Once all the latex paint is removed, I was planning to TSP it, and then Zinsser —either shellac or cover stain. I thought I was going to skim coat it myself, but I’d rather a professional which is where I’m at a fork in the road.
Contractor #1 said chip 100% of the latex down to the oil, TSP, and prime with zinsser. His quote for the amount of skim coating is $8,000. He can start 3 months from now.
Contractor #2 said only chip what’s loose (but much of it is loose so I’d prefer to do it all), Kilz 2 primer it, then they’ll put an adhesion layer and skim coat it. His quote for the amount is $6,700. He can start in two weeks.
I didn’t think you could put water based primer over oil paint. And this is the home I plan to have for the next 30+ years. Any recommendations on primer or contractor?

2023.06.04 23:03 oceanman0958 27 [M4F] Ga/ online - just another geek looking for their geek
Hello, I'm a 27 year old Korean man just looking to talk geeky stuff with someone. I enjoy watching anime and YouTube, listening and trying out new music, gaming on my pc or switch or ps4, or playing a children's card game to save the world (or something like that). Honestly just want another person to click with that can potentially become my significant other, cause work is boring... Oh, also an avid Fate/ Grand Order player, and now a Genshin Impact addict. If we click, maybe we can discord? I also do some panels to the conventions I go to in Georgia. But aside from my love of the fate series or anything that can fuel my gacha addiciton, I do play a lot of other games, so shoot me a question of "do you play [insert game name]" and I will give you an answer!
So more generic and not so geeky information, currently working for my parents for a clothing store they own. I own no pets and sadly I'm allergic to cats (cats are super cute). I am a little cynical hoping that will change with conversing with other non cynical people (a lot of my friends are cynical like me). I like most genre of music (only one that I currently don't like is country music) but I mainly prefer classic rock like The Beatles and Queen. My future goals, aside from having a family and having kids, is to either be a card shop owner or an author of a book series.
Tldr - anime and card game enthusiast, YouTube watcher, Beatles fan/ classic rock fan, avid gamer, convention panelist, "aspiring" writer, lover of all fate Series, yes including the original fate stay night by studio deen...
You - have similar interests as I have listed above, possibly in state (although I wouldn't mind a long distant relationship if it comes down to it, as long as we're willing to meet up in person one day, compatible, and share a face pic, i dont mind sending one first, but i do want one in return to be fair)
Goals - honestly, I just want someone to talk fgo about mainly and eventually watch a podcast or something while we're cuddling and complaining about whatever gacha gamea we're playing cause sharing grief is a good way to connect imo.
Ps. I apologize if I'm a bit awkward or if I seem aloof sometimes, honestly if I'm being real here, I'm not too sure if I have any mental disorders or anything since my parents never really thought of it as an actual thing when I was young so I was never formally diagnosed with anything.

2023.06.04 23:03 Alfonse215 K2 Diary 7: Iron and Copper and Purple all over
Last time, we had to improve a bunch of infrastructure and tap new resources before it was going to be possible to actually make purple science. So let's see how well that went. But first, a quick word from our sponsor: Power from Water Did you try to tap your uranium patches only to discover that Krastorio 2's U-235 to fuel cell ratio is disappointingly low? Are you wasting precious crude oil to fuel your boilers? Are you trying desperately to get to purple science just because it provides Kovarex and makes nuclear power possible? Don't you want a better, cleaner, denser way to make power? Well, have I got a deal for you. We can burn a liquid fuel now. Brought to you by Anonymous_user_2022, liquids can be burned to produce electricity instead of solids. It reduces per-watt pollution by 40% over solid fuel, gives a net 103MW per-power plant, and best of all it only uses water! Yes, using our patented, space-age design, we can turn water into wood and just make electricity from that. Biomethanol is made from wood and steam, but wood can make steam too. And greenhouses absorb pollution, so the large number you need for this design is a feature, not a bug. Behold the power of water! Now I've got 200+MW net, so power isn't much of a concern (and if it becomes one, it's easy to make more). And here's a blueprint with efficiency 1 modules everywhere for slightly better net power generation. Oil and Ore So oil processing is fixed now. Complete with biomass generation. It even looks like I left room for beacons! And since I recently decommissioned all of my boilers for power, I also decommissioned all of my solid fuel making. So that freed up some more crude oil for petrol: Also beacon room. Because why not. And now, on to iron and copper. Yep, still hate ore washing. On the plus side, I don't need to deal with coal anymore because, thanks to powering my base off of water, I now have plenty of power to transition to electric furnaces. And since I had to ship sulfuric acid to my uranium mining, it's already on trains, so at least I don't have to deal with some specialized fluid just for washing. Too many copper smelters, but someday I'll add beacons and fix everything. I have a suspiciously similar-but-larger iron processing plant. I also upgraded steel to electric furnaces. So I'm flush with steel now. Or rather, even more flush, since I was doing just fine before. But it's more efficient now. Module 2s en masse So what exactly do I do with all these resources? Well, purple science does use quite a lot of iron (through red belts). But this is mostly for module 2s. Lots of module 2s. Remember when I said that it was nice that module 1s can be built partially off of dirt. Yeah, turns out that's not so great, because despite having plenty of iron and copper, I need way more dirt. So now I have to tap some new stone and refine it. Oops: improperly spaced for modules. We'll fix it in post. And after a few processes: These are properly spaced for modules. There: over a full yellow belt of electronic components. With the attendant green and red circuit production, this is enough to sustain ~24 module 2s per-minute. The capstone of 50MW of power. And the excess stuff gets dumped onto the now-red-belted bus. Purple at last So... the Research Server and Advanced Lab. Sometimes K2 design decisions make sense and fit the game. Other times they add complexity for the sake of complexity, which is still a valid design choice. And sometimes they seem to be a way to sidestep some issue from vanilla (I presume the reason fuel refineries exist as a separate building is that chemical plants couldn't be converted into a form that could take 3 fluid inputs, so they needed a new building). But Research Servers? A specialized building just for purple and yellow tech cards? They don't really add complexity, since they're just an assembler with a different name. Sure, it requires more advanced stuff to craft than an assembler, but it's still just an assembler. It's not even a physically bigger building. It's nothing more than a fancy assembler that only has one purpose: tech cards. And not even all tech cards; just two of them. This will quickly be discarded for Quantum Computers, which can make all of the tech cards you need for end-game stuff. So why does this exist? The only thing I think this does (besides being an irritant) is prevent you from using 4 prod-modules with the highest tier of tech cards until you unlock a few late-game materials. Which is just another form of being an irritant. But what bugs me more than this arbitrary building requirement are the ingredients of Production Tech Cards themselves. They're just... wrong. Previously, I mentioned that the split between purple and yellow was now based on a split between which special resource you wanted to mine: uranium (for eventual power) or rare metals (for blue circuits). Though it's really strange that uranium bullets are still gated behind yellow science. But regardless, this is fine design-wise. But the ingredients of purple science are strange. Vanilla Factorio did a very good job of using the ingredients of science packs to push players into playing "correctly". And purple science was one of the clearest and best versions of that. All of its ingredients are things that a novice player might skip (electric furnaces gulp power, prod modules don't obviously seem to offer a meaningful benefit, and rails are easy to ignore for local patches). So forcing the player to make them means that a player is then encouraged to use them. Nobody needs encouragement to make red belts. Nobody needs to be told that faster belts == good. If anything, they need to be encouraged not waste resources on them unless they're strictly needed. I don't think encouraging players to make bad choices is good design. And yes, I am aware that K2 is meant for veteran players, so they don't exactly need "encouragement". But good design is good design, and this just isn't it. U-238 is even worse because it has little actual utility. Yes, it's great that there is a dedicated sink for the stuff. But you don't even need that in K2 because crushers exist. And even with a dedicated sink, that doesn't change the fact that U-238 doesn't do anything. Eventually you learn stuff to use with it, but that's just bullets and Kovarex. At this point, U-238 is just a byproduct of the thing you actually want: U-235. The best you can say is that U-238 is evidence that you are producing U-235, which is theoretically useful. But because of the poor U-235 to fuel cell ratio, it is only theoretically useful. It takes way too much uranium mining to reliably power a reactor. If vanilla Factorio made something a requirement of a science pack, you were pretty sure that this thing would be in fairly common use. Inserters, yellow belts, gear wheels, etc. The only ones I can think of that aren't guaranteed to be widely used at various tech levels (either directly or as components of something else) are engines (situational), sulfur (sulfuric acid is more widely used than sulfur itself), and rocket fuel. It would have made more sense to have U-238 be a component of something that is commonly used. Basically, do what they did with rare metals and blue circuits. But regardless, I've got it up and running now: Lots of Prod Module making. Next Time The Factory Shall Grow My uranium patches are almost gone. It's time to go to the new patch (in the bottom-left), sanitize the area, and start shipping it to the base for processing. And then get a reactor setup running. submitted by Alfonse215 to factorio [link] [comments]

| 06/04/2023 Free Forgiveness Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. — Luke 7:42 All of us are in debt. Of course there is a difference in the amount of our debts. Some have sinned far more than others. But whether our debt be little or much, we have nothing at all with which to pay it. We could not more easily pay the fifty than the five hundred pence. He forgave them both. It is just as easy for God to forgive the greatest sins as the smallest. He forgave them. That is the only way we can ever get clear of our sins. A king owed a large sum to one of his nobles, but could not pay it. The nobleman made a great feast in honor of his king. A fire or perfumed woods burned on the hearth. During the feast the host brought out all he king’s notes and cast them into the fire, thus obliterating beyond possibility of restoration every evidence of his indebtedness. That is the way God does with our sins. Into the fragrant flames of Christ’s sacrifice he casts them all, and they will never be heard of more. There is a story of a half-witted boy whose idea of forgiveness was beautiful. He said that Jesus came and with his red hand rubbed out all his sins. A quaint man used to carry a little book, which he took very often from his pocket, and which he called his “biography.” It had only three leaves, and there was not a word written on any of them; yet he said the book told the whole story of his life. The first leaf was black: that was his sin; that was his condition by nature. He would shudder when he looked at it. The second was red: that was the blood or Christ; and his face glowed when he gazed upon it. The third was white: that was himself washed in Christ’s blood, made whiter than snow. 2023.06.04 23:01 jericho881 How do I make a good palette?
I heard a lot that a glass plate is a good surface and i have a few glass plates laying around.... How would you prepare that for using it as a palette?
I'm kinda scared of knocking it on the edge and braking the plate
Ofc the simpler thing would be a piece of coated wood (idk the name, that plastic coated stuff that is used for cheap furniture)
Whats the benefit of glass other than it probably feels a bit nicer?

2023.06.04 23:01 AustralianChrono Chronologica's Drag Race Season 4: Episode 7- It's Your Festival Lip Sync
DRAG RACE!
Chronologica struts the runway wearing a cosplay of Twilight Sparkle, from my little pony.
Neigh! Welcome to Drag Race. Pot O’Pyrite, welcome back to the show! “Pleasure to be back.” Pyrite grins.
Rachelle, Floss, what festival would YOU host? “Ballroom, baby.”
“KAKITIKA KITI KA KA, OW!!!” Floss chants.
Rachelle blinks.
For our Challenge, our racers were tasked with curating their own festivals. And on the runway, they’ll be wearing Carnival Couture looks. It’s TIME! ~
Category is… Carnival Couture. Dressed as the circus tent itself, Aguacate steps out in a full length, red and white striped gown. She herself is the ringleader, with a cane, top hat, and thin black mustache. At the end of the runway, she opens up her tent and invites everyone to come inside her circus!
She’s wide open. Zazu Nova arrives in a fitted bodysuit adorned with fluffy cotton candy-like trim in a pastel pink shade, with a plunging neckline and cutouts on the sides and back. To complement the cotton candy theme, a wig made of fluffy curly pastel pink hair, decorated with cotton candy-like ornaments, sparkling glitter, and glossy lips, complete the look with a smiling Zazu.
“I’m hungry.” Floss laughs.
Yasmin struts out in a preppy white cricket player’s uniform, with white trousers, a shirt, and a knit jumper, and swings a cricket bat enthusiastically. As she finishes her swing, white Carnival feathers swoop out dramatically into wide decorative plumage, presenting the perfect combo of cricket and carnival, representative of Guyana’s Mashramani Festival.
“Ooooh….” Pyrite gasps.
In a huge plumed look in green, with a massive headdress and glistening jewels all over her body, Granny Gorgeous is ready for the festival, baby! She sambas and dances as she twirls through the stage, serving Brazilian Carnival.
“Dance, bitch!” Floss cheers.
Referencing the Italian Commedia dell'arte movement, Fiore Stravaganza enters with a face mask and a jester look, in a satin style with huge puffy sleeves. She takes off her mask to reveal a painted clown face with a smile.
“Oh, I love a Commedia dell'arte reference.” Pyrite smirks.
Jaslene Bangus has become a big top! She is a big red striped big top tent, wearing a gorgeous little mini dress that twirls along with her as she walks through the stage, with fluffy red hair and a smile upon her face.
Brittany’s back? Showcasing a look for the Mombasa Carnival, King Omari Star wears a look of bright yellows, orange and greens, with a huge headpiece like a bird, and a bare chest that is covered in various chains. He’s got a massive cape that flows as he walks, and a huge smile.
“Cape King.” Rachelle moans.
~
Hi Racers. This week, nobody is safe. Starting with… Aguacate and Granny. The two grin.
You were a chaotic duo. “Me?” Aguacate gasps. “Chaotic?!”
And I loved it. It was fun, it was entertaining- you delivered here, and I really was happy with it. “I had such a fun time with this.” Granny smiles. “It was a pleasure.”
Great job, the both of you. The two grin.
Fiore and Jaslene. The two look at each other and smile.
“I feel like this was off.” Pyrite purses his lips. “For me, it was just a crappy concept.”
Fiore sighs, visibly displeased.
“I feel as if you were just- not doing enough. Your festival, for me- it wasn’t FUN. I needed fun.” Pyrite responds.
“I do- I did enjoy this.” Jaslene smiles. “And I really enjoyed our concept, and I did think I was having fun but I get the critiques.”
Fiore Stravaganza: “I wasn’t, but werk.” Fiore shrugs.
Next up, Crayola and Yasmin. The two look at Chronologica.
“For me…” Floss smiles. “You two really shined tonight.”
“Woo!” Yasmin cheers. “Fantabulous.”
Floss beams. “For me, you were here, you were delivering, you had fun- the two of you, and I was most interested in your festival.”
“Thank you.” Yasmin tears up.
“You have a natural charisma- Yasmin. And this week, you embraced what we needed, Crayola. I’m proud of you both.”
Finally, Omari and Zazu. Omari stands tall, whilst Zazu smiles.
“I think the reality is you seem… off kilter.” Rachelle says. “And yes, it was a team challenge, but the reality was Omari- you were the weaker link.”
Omari looks frustrated, as the others look at him.
…
Fiore. Jaslene. Aguacate. Granny. You are… Safe. You may untuck in the platinum lounge. The four look surprised.
Omari, Zazu, Crayola & Yasmin. Please stand on stage for further critique. ~
Fiore, Jaslene, Granny and Aguacate enter the werkroom.
“Safety!” Aguacate chuckles, grabbing her drink.
Fiore grabs a cocktail. “Yay.”
The four sit down.
“This was interesting.” Granny says.
Aguacate takes a sip of her drink and nods. "Definitely interesting. I didn't expect Omari and Zazu to end up in the bottom. They're usually strong competitors. I mean, Omari is. Zazu is pretty, though." Aguacate giggles.
Fiore rolls her eyes. "Pretty ugly maybe. Well, I'm not surprised. Omari has been struggling lately, and Zazu is just… fat to cut at this point. They deserved to be in the bottom."
“Omari seemed… pissed.” Jaslene adds.
“Oh, he was MAD.” Aguacate giggles.
Fiore takes a sip of her cocktail. "Well, it's about time Omari was challenged. I feel like he’s been coasting, so…”
Jaslene nods, taking out her hand to hold Fiore, who shakes her head. “I’m good.”
Jaslene frowns.
Granny sighs and shakes her head. "I don't like seeing anyone upset, darlings. Drag Race is a tough competition, and emotions can run high. Let's hope they both handle it with grace."
Fiore giggles, before sipping her drink.
Aguacate chuckles. "Fiore, always a tough critic. But hey, it's part of what makes you fierce.”
“Exactly.” Fiore nods. “I'm simply stating the facts. Drag Race is not a place for weak links, and I have no patience for those who can't keep up."
Jaslene Bangus: “Fiore isn’t talking about me, is it? Out of nowhere, she’s suddenly acting… colder.” "So, what do we think about the upcoming lip sync? Any predictions?" Granny smiles.
Granny raises an eyebrow. "Hmm, it's hard to say. Both Omari and Zazu are fierce performers. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring the house down."
Aguacate smirks. "I have a feeling Omari is going to fight tooth and nail to stay. He's got that fire in him. It'll be an intense lip sync."
Jaslene nods. "Yeah, I can see that. But Zazu is no slouch either. She knows how to captivate an audience. It'll be a battle of fierce personalities."
“I think Omari is going to decimate that girl verbally.” Fiore adds. “I see them fighting.”
“Oh, they’ve already fought before, and..” Granny sighs.
Jaslene shrugs. “I mean, I just hope I’m in the room when it happens.”
Fiore smirks.
“Okay, let’s get drunk!” Aguacate yells, grabbing shot glasses. “TEQUILA!”
~
I want to talk further, and really analyze your performances. Starting with… Crayola. Crayola grins.
“I am really happy to have seen you going outside of your shell.” Rachelle nods. “Really commendable.”
“Thank you.” Crayola nods with a grin.
“You played the part of the straight man, and I think that was a fun choice.” Rachelle purses her lips. “But it did mean Yasmin was the more BRIGHT personality.”
Crayola nods.
Zazu. “Hiya!” Zazu smiles.
I really do like your energy, Zazu. I feel like it’s a real positive and bright energy. Zazu grins.
But I do want you to keep PUSHING yourself. I need a little more, and I do feel as if yes, you were in many ways brought down by your partner… Omari looks over.
But, alternatively you struggled and have been struggling. I just… want to see you push it. Zazu nods.
Yasmin. Yasmin grins.
“It was a pleasure seeing you this week.” Pyrite says with a grin. “You were charming, you were fun, you were the highlight for me.”
Crayola looks over.
“Wow, I am so ever so pleased.” Yasmin beams.
“It was just- a simply put, masterclass in hosting.” Pyrite nods. “Well done.”
“Thank you.” Yasmin nods.
Omari.
“Baby.” Floss sighs. “This was a disappointing week, for me.”
“Okay.” Omari says. “I can see that.”
“You just- I saw you trying, but it didn’t come across authentic. I was wanting you to loosen up. Did you come up with this concept?” Floss asks.
King Omari Star: “Part of me wants to decimate Zazu on the stage. But…” “It was a team effort.” Omari responds. “And I want to take accountability for MY performance- because yes, I didn’t meet the mark.”
Floss nods. “I want to see you shine, baby. You’re here to fight. Show it, but let yourself roll with these punches.”
Omari looks down and nods. “Thank you.”
Thanks, racers. Whilst we deliberate, you may untuck backstage in the Crystal Lounge, sponsored by Princess Papaya Tropical Drinks. ~
The four enter the Crystal lounge.
“Where’s my fabulous drink?” Yasmin smiles, grabbing her non-alcoholic drink.
The four sit down.
“So….” Crayola purses her lips. “How do we think we’re placing?”
“Clearly, we’re in the bottom.” Omari looks over at Zazu.
Zazu looks nervously for a second, before nodding.
“How do you feel about that, Omari?” Yasmin asks.
Yasmin Raiz: “He’s… a strong character. And I expect him to probably go at Zazu. I mean, Zazu looks it.” Zazu looks at Omari.
Omari takes a deep breath and looks directly at Zazu. "I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. These… critiques." Omari begins. "And I realize that instead of being angry and frustrated, I should be using this opportunity to learn and grow. We're both here because we love drag, and we want to show the world what we're capable of. So, instead of dwelling on our flaws, let's embrace them and use them as fuel to give the performance of our lives in the lip sync."
Zazu's eyes widen in surprise, both she nods.
"You're right, Omari. Let's show them the fire that burns within us and give them a lip sync they'll never forget!" Zazu smiles. “I know we didn’t work it out, this week-”
“And I know that is a lot due to myself.” Omari nods. “So I own that.”
“It was me too.” Zazu responds. “But we’re both performers.”
“I live for the stage.” Omari lights up. “And it’s not something I fear, it’s an opportunity.”
“I think the same.” Zazu nods.
"Absolutely! You two have incredible talent, and I have no doubt that you can deliver an unforgettable performance. Just remember, it's not about being perfect; it's about showing your passion and giving it your all." Yasmin responds with a bright grin.
"I've been worried about this challenge, but seeing you two find strength in each other has inspired me. We're all in this together, and we can lift each other up." Crayola adds.
The others walk in, as the four look at each other.
“Oh, not a fight.” Jaslene chuckles.
“Why, were you worried?” Yasmin asks.
“Should we go prepare?” Omari looks at Zazu, who nods.
“I think it’ll be judged individually, and I am so happy to be here, but… I don’t feel like I did as good as you! You just have that… more crowd pleasing personality.” Crayola says with a smile.
Yasmin makes a face, before nodding.
Yasmin Raiz: “Is she shading myself?” “I mean that with love, my dear.” Crayola adds. “You did fantastic.”
“Thanks.” Yasmin grins.
“Crayola, you really do remind me of what people think of teachers.” Jaslene smiles.
“Thank you.” Crayola grins.
Jaslene smirks.
Zazu turns to Omari with a smile. “Can we hug?”
Omari looks at Zazu. “...Do we have to?”
“We don’t.” Zazu chuckles. “I just want to fight here. Because… I do want this.” Zazu tears up. “My journey here has been challenging, but I love to perform. I love delivering these looks and you know, I see I am doing bad. But my parents- and my drag family, I know they have faith in me.”
“I think you’re a talent.” Omari responds, before exhaling. “I love drag with all my heart, and I want to show the world the passion that drives me. This lip sync is not just about staying in the competition; it's about reclaiming my power and reminding myself why I fell in love with drag in the first place."
“Heck yeah.” Zazu grins.
~
Welcome back, racers. I’ve made my decision. Crayola Boxx, this week, you worked hard, and brought the spice. Yasmin, we’re eating YOU UP! Condragulations, you are BOTH the winner of this week’s challenge. They smile, with Crayola looking particularly surprised.
Yasmin Raiz: “My WIN!!!” Yasmin cheers. That means Zazu Nova and King Omari Star, I’m sorry my dears, but you are up for elimination. The two look at each other.
The time has come… for you to lip sync to your life! **Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin starts to play**
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN5hQOI\_\_10 Good luck… and don’t fuck it up! Zazu Nova: “I know this is another week in the bottom. But I love to perform. This is my heart and soul, and I’m going to show it.” King Omari Star: “It’s time to live La Vida Loca, baby.” Omari smirks. ~
Next Time! “Racers, it’s time for an IMPROV CHALLENGE!” Rachelle Mirage cheers.
Aguacate gasps.
“I’m stuck in this house…” Granny looks around.
Fiore Stravaganza: “Real talk, it’s time we’re over.” “A.E Girls?” Jaslene winks.
“Meh.” Fiore responds.

2023.06.04 23:01 climbatreemyman Is it common for a building this tall to be made of wood and not concrete?
It looks like a residential building based purely on the deck spaces but I can't help but wonder if it's a fire or structural hazard? Also wouldn't sound travel like crazy? I would love to be wrong about this stuff and there are probably plenty of people that work in the construction industry on here that know better than me. This is on the corner of Glenmore and MacLeod trail right by Chinook mall. submitted by climbatreemyman to Calgary [link] [comments]

2023.06.04 23:00 spo0pti since it’s coming up on a decade since the unexpected party: this is my review of the hobbit trilogy as someone who grew up making my mum read the book to me on repeat.
i first want to say that i actually like that they split the one book into three films. the book is in three arcs anyway which are 1: finding refuge at bilbos to escaping on the eagles 2: finding refuge at beorn’s to escaping in the barrels and 3: finding refuge at lake town to winning back erobor and everything settling down again.
i love the unexpected journey, it was everything i wanted and more. i loved the unexpected party i thought it was done fantastically. i loved riddles in the dark it was utterly flawless. the trolls was like it was taken straight from my childhood imagination and put on screen i adored it. they added the azog as a bigger character rather than so much of a foot note in the book and his inclusion really made out of the fire and into the frying pan so much better. showing radagast was so much fun as he wasn’t in the books at all and using him to foreshadow the lord of the rings was just a great thing to have. the whole thing neatly fits into the first arc of the book.
my only problem with the first film: it makes me want to continue watching the story. the second film is truly rotten. they skipped over so much of the book including my absolute favourite chapter of any book ever; queer lodgings. in the chapter thorin’s company go 2 by 2 after bilbo and gandalf to meet beorn in his hazy summer garden and humbly ask for help and direction while he rudely makes fun of them. the chapter is so magical and beautiful, from well trained animals serving them to bears meeting in the moonlight it’s really some of tolkiens most atmospheric writing, somehow combining spooky with cozy. sometimes i open the book just to read it again. in the film tho? beorn as a bear chases them into his house. for some reason let’s them stay and at one point comings in late at night while bilbo is awake. it. fucking. sucks. where’s the magic? the contrast to the first chapter of the dwarves treatment of their different hosts? where were the wonderful animals serving them honey cakes and tea? and that’s just one butchered chapter. the whole second arc in the book is in mirkwood. bilbo comes into his own saving the dwarves by antagonising and killing the spiders. the wood elves lure them off the path with illusions at their mysterious feast and bilbo spends from the end of summer into the middle of autumn scavenging in the palace looking for a way to get them out. rather in the film bilbo only serving’s because he got lucky and the dwarves only spent about an evening in prison. the film should’ve been finished when they escaped in the barrels not when they woke up the dragon. don’t even get me started on how they added a female character only to make her nothing more than a love interest to kili. it should’ve just been mirkwood to keep in the second arc. up to arriving in lake town at the very most.
the third film is the best that they could’ve done after the second film left basically nothing of the book left. that’s all i have to say about it. it pleasantly surprised me only because i was so crushingly disappointed by the desolation of smaug.

2023.06.04 23:00 TwigBoi Tacky Resin prints and priming for printing
Hopefully this is pretty straightforward. I personally do not have a 3d printer, but I was gifted some smaller prints for tabletop gaming. The quality was good and was checking everything out and noticed some of them have a tacky feel. Based on some reading here in this subreddit it sounds like it was an issue with the bits not being cleaned/cured correct? I was curious how they would do getting a layer of spray painted primer. Will it hold? Should I just invest some time to clean and cure the bits more?
