2023.06.04 22:13 AimIsInSleepMode Test

All light bubbles shattered. The many pieces of the sharp and burning glass are stuck. You can't pull them out, because they are way too deep inside. Some pieces were manageable to pull out, but you can still tell they were stuck and it heals very slowly. The light switches were ripped out. It's so dark and the campfire which was burning bright now burned out. You can't set it on fire again, because there is no wood left. The library with it's many visitors burned down and nothing is left. The books can't be rewritten and replaced. You can't write new books, because you can't see anything without any light. Nobody wants to renovate the library. It's locked by a door with no handle. At first there wasn't a door, then something entered it and the books were cut up. Then it was a stronger, more stable door so only some things can come trough. And then it got destroyed again and the books were set on fire. The door now got replaced again, but now nothing can come in or out. Sometimes some things tried to come in, but the door won't open. It's locked.Lightning strikes again and again, destroying everything, burning everything down. Then a storm comes up and devastates everything. The rain is getting heavier and heavier and the waves get higher and higher until they completely drown you. Your heart will be flooded. You can't stop the leak and it burns and hurts like hot knives all inside you. They're not that easy to pull out. If you try, everything will get stuck on it, gnaw on it, take it for a walk. And the deep black hole pulls everything out of you with it. It takes all the light out of you, every single lamp. Then there aren't many things that will give you power with a pack of lightbulbs. The small light bulbs don't last long, don't heat up and brighten up for long. They shatter and each individual splinter is stuck and difficult to pull out. Only a few light switches light up the bulbs. But they can give you everything and enlighten everything. But if they are torn out of the wall like a heart, then every single bulb is gone and demolished. So many bookshelves have fallen over, so little is left and so much is simply destroyed or lost. They can't be repaired either. Rewriting the books won't work without ink. The pen has its last ink cartridge, the pencil has its last lead, and the feather has its last glass. And the biggest book on the biggest shelf got stabbed and cut up. New books are not often added, they are usually only a page long and not many visit the library

2023.06.04 22:13 v1vii My mom thinks I copy people with whatever I do

I (14f) am exploring my identity. I wear clothes that I like, I dye my hair, but my mom doesn’t like that.
I bleached the underside of my hair two years ago, and I had to beg my mom to let me do it. Once she did it, she said she’d never do it again. She was upset that I was “copying” other people on the internet. She once took my phone while it was unlocked and went on Pinterest, where she found a person with hair similarly colored to mine on the home page. No matter how much I explained I had never even seen that person in my life, she got mad and accused me of lying. Fortunately, after lots of begging the next year, I was able to re-bleach it- though I am unsure as to whether I’ll be able to in the future.
After that, I wanted to change up my closet.. I was unhappy with the way I dressed and whenever I wanted to wear anything my mom didn’t like, she accused me of copying other people. Now, keep in mind that I dress modestly. It isn’t bad, inappropriate, or revealing, she just doesn’t like that I don’t wear what she likes. Last week I asked her to buy me a pair of pajama shorts since it is nearing summer and it’s difficult to sleep when I am overheating. She then proceeds to tell me, “Who told you to buy them? Are you copying someone from school?”
My dad doesn’t mind what I buy because I’ve always been picky with clothes, and I’m sure he’s relieved I finally know what I like. My mom tells me that about 5 shirts and 5 pants are enough for a year. She says I only need one pair of shoes. My dad disagrees with her, but she doesn’t care. “Buy her one more thing and I won’t even speak to her!”, she says. It usually doesn’t matter what I buy, she’ll always think I’m copying someone.
This isn’t limited to my closet and hair, it goes a lot deeper too.
She doesn’t believe me when I say I dress for myself and thinks I’m doing it all for someone else. How do I get her to believe me when I say I don’t have anyone telling me what to wear? And how do I get her to stop thinking in that mindset?

2023.06.04 22:07 UltimateShinobi3243 Derrick J Wyatt is not a reliable source of feats or anti feats for ben 10

Ive seen ppl use DJW as a source for feats and it makes me so annoyed when they do. He was the art director for omniverse wich means he dealt with character designs, colors and all that. The only other thing he did was come up with plots, he didnt actually write them. If u dont believe me then here's a link to the wiki page of a post that DJW made about what he did during his work on omniverse. https://ben10.fandom.com/wiki/Ben_10_Planet?file=Derrick%27s+Role+in+Omniverse.png.

What You Get:

MODULE 1

YOUR PROFITABLE PRODUCT IDEA

Designing a Blockbuster Hit Starts Here
The best products start with the best and most profitable ideas — which don’t happen by chance nor by waiting for lightning to strike.
It takes a proven process to zero in on the idea with the potential to fly off the shelves.
In this module, you’ll discover my Profitable Product Idea. You will:
  • Choose the best product and audience for you to profit from right now
  • Make sure your Idea passes all 7 Criteria of the Profitable Niche Checklist
  • Express your Idea in one simple phrase that attracts your target market in droves
  • Pre-validate there’s demand for your Idea in a way that automatically lines up your future customers
  • Create your Profitable Product Idea Blueprint so you have everything in one place
This process was developed over 7 years and 7,000 students, and can shave months or even years off your journey from idea to profit.
Whether you don’t have any ideas, or you have too many ideas, or you’re not sure whether your idea will work, your Blockbuster Hit Product starts here.
MODULE 2

YOUR IDEA TO MARKET BLUEPRINT

Turning Your Idea Into an Irresistible Offer
In this module, you’ll take your profitable idea and transform it into the kind of thing folks will line up to buy.
We call it your “Offer”, and it’s the scaffolding around your idea that makes it real. Elements such as:
  • Your blockbuster course name, your price point, your guarantee, bonuses and the reasons to buy now
  • The points of credibility that create massive buyer trust — even if you’re just getting started
  • Your uniquely valuable “process” — how you go about getting your students results (a huge selling point)
  • The social proof to start attracting paying customers immediately, even if this is the first time you’re doing this
The right offer can triple or even quadruple your sales, while the wrong offer will turn a great Idea into a ghost town.
By the end of this module, you’ll have the deep confidence that comes from knowing that everything you’re creating is exactly what your audience wants to buy.
Now you’ll be ready for Module 3, where we’ll start building!
MODULE 3

YOUR MVP LAUNCH

Creating Your Minimal Viable Product & Getting to Market Fast
By the end of this module, you’ll create just enough of your new program or course to be able to start making real, actual sales to real actual customers.
So many programs stop short of this critical step, and leave you stranded, wondering how to bridge the gap between theory and practice. That’s a huge mistake, because it’s critical to test the real world response to your offer before you create your whole course or product, while you still have time to make easy changes and pivots.
Some folks hit it out of the park on the first try, while others need to refine and adjust for a few cycles before they land on just the right thing. Either way, this process ensures you never waste months and thousands of dollars creating the wrong thing.
In this Module you’ll:
  • Use the “paint-by-numbers” MVP process to choose the exact pieces of your product and how they fit together
  • Finalize your Launch “Blueprint”, including the exact concrete steps to get to market FAST and start making sales straight away
  • Choose and deploy one of the 3 simple marketing & promotion campaigns to locate and find the people most likely to want to buy from you
  • Copy/paste from our pre-written campaign messaging templates to immediately have people wanting to know more (versus tuning out or scrolling past)
  • Follow the word-for-word sales scripts to confidently sell your MVP and start taking money even before the end of the module!
MODULE 4

SUPERCHARGE YOUR MARKETING

Reach Even More People & Make Even More Sales
Now that you’ve proven your offer by making some sales, our optional Module 4 is where you can take your marketing even further by stacking 2-3 campaigns together to create a supercharged, multiplier effect.
Whether you stack simple campaigns, requiring little-to-no technology, or more robust campaigns — this is how you realize Goal X. A whole lot more. Whatever that looks like to you.
In this Module, get ready to turn a handful of sales into an avalanche:
  • Get our EIGHT pre-written ready-to-go “Experience Marketing” Campaigns that you can just plug right in
  • Recieve my entire vault of pre-written scripts, emails, web page templates, sales & video scripts that you can take and customize or just use “as is” — they’re yours and they’ve generated literally millions of dollars for my other students
  • Create a Custom Campaign Stack that suits your dominant marketing style — whether you prefer to sell through 1:1 conversations, speaking to groups, or writing — so marketable feels easier than it ever has before
  • Recieve my entire vault of pre-written scripts, emails and web page templates that you can take and customize or just use “as is” — they’re yours and they’ve generated literally millions of dollars for my other students
  • Stand out with your marketing in a powerful, unique, fresh and engaging way that gets the attention of your ideal customers, which is 99% of the battle in today’s noisy marketplace, so you can make some real money
After that, we start to really dial up the “WOW” for your students…
MODULE 5

EXPERIENCE ESCALATION

Supercharge Your Results
Now that you’ve proven your product with real sales and you have a plan for reaching even more people and making even more money, this is where we pour fuel on the fire by “experiencifying” your course.
“Experiencification” is the process of stacking the 10 Core Experiences of The Experience Formula™ into every element of your Experience Product, to increase the effectiveness of your product by 10-30 times.
In this Module you’ll:
  • “Experiencify” your program with the 10 Core Experiences of The Experience Formula™ to create an engaging experience that works with (rather than against) the brain to get your customers “hooked” on taking action and getting results
  • Watch as your students spontaneously put down distractions and excuses and become “achievement machines”, focused on taking action, getting results and bringing more customers your way
  • Embed a powerful process for gathering success stories right into your course, so you can quickly have dozens if not hundreds of glowing testimonials (this is how I ended up with 1480 testimonials and counting for EPM!)

2023.06.04 21:41 chirotomio Something is really, really wrong with my sister...

My sister and I were always close. There was only a year difference in age, her being the eldest one. We liked similar things, had similar interests, and protected one another. We went through things together, like getting over a first boyfriend or realizing how bad period cramps actually are. I was grateful for this, to have someone that understood me so deeply. Of course there were fights too. A lot of “you stole my shirt” and “is that my lip gloss?” But what sisterly relationship doesn’t have a bit of bickering scattered in the mix.
But then… the bickering got worse.
I don't mean to complain, especially on the internet to strangers I’ll likely never know. But lately, my sister has been… extra hostile. It started simple enough. I’d bump into her in the narrow hallway that separated our two bedrooms. She’d groan like normal, but there was a sharpness to the “fake” insults she would sling at me. “Jesus, take up enough space?” There was an underlying venom in her tone. I was used to our average bickering, but this put a crater in my chest. “Sorry, sheesh.” I brushed her off and kept moving.
The day after, I asked her if I could borrow something from her closet. “You’re so fucking annoying, Alice.” She didn’t say it with a tone nor did she yell at me. She said it like it was simply a fact. Her words were flat and she didn’t even spare a glance at me. “What the hell?” I retorted, but she just ignored me.
I started trying to avoid her after that. I figured, maybe she was going through something that she wasn’t ready to talk about yet. It happens, right? Whatever it was, I didn’t want to be in the middle of it. More and more, my sister started shutting everyone out. She would go to school, come home, lock herself in her room and… that was it. We barely saw her around the house. Later in the night I would hear her door unlatch and the sound of her feet scurrying down the hallway. Probably to the kitchen, since she never came down for dinner.
When mom would ask what was wrong, she would shrug her off and call her annoying. Always buried in her cell phone, always with an attitude. I started taking notice of her appearance. Now my sister is pretty, I won't deny it. I was always jealous of how perfectly her hair laid in comparison to my cow-licked part. Her teeth were straight and shiny, and she was a swimmer so it was rare for her to be out of shape. But she started to look… sickly? Her face was always pale, with big black bags under her eyes. Her lips were cracked and dry, even her fingernails started to look brittle. She was chewing on them and ripping the skin along the side of her nail bed. She always looked nervous and her eyes would dart around the room like she was constantly looking for a threat.
Months went by, I started my sophomore year and she was a junior. She wouldn’t acknowledge me in the hall, and even her friends started to avoid her. They said she was gloomy and weird. A drastic change in comparison to the previous summer. She was vibrant, full of life, and usually lit up any room she walked into.
But now she was miserable to be around. She would hurl insults at us, and berate us every chance she got. She would walk by me and pinch me hard enough to bruise the skin. When I'd yell at her for it, I was simply met with a wide grin and a shrill laugh. She made me nervous, like I had to be on guard any time she was around.
This wasn't Gemma. Something was wrong. As her sister, I needed to do something. So, one day, I decided to go into her room and do some snooping.
Now hear me out, I know snooping is wrong. I would never normally invade someone’s privacy like that. But I knew just asking her wasn’t going to get me anywhere. So snooping it was. I started by combing through her closet. I figured if she were to walk in on me, I could just say I was looking for something to wear. I brushed my fingers gently over the hanging clothes. Vibrant colors of pinks, purples, and yellows swirled together as I shoved them to either side. Her clothes would tell me nothing. Especially since she didn’t wear vibrant stuff anymore.
Her closet was pretty empty, just shoes and hanging clothes. A few random pieces of paper but nothing of value. I emptied out some of her spare handbags to find empty tubes of lip gloss and tissues. Useless, I thought.
I moved on to her vanity. I searched each drawer carefully. Vials of lip gloss, palettes of blush and eyeshadow, but nothing to indicate something was wrong. I shut one in frustration and sighed. This is stupid, I thought. She’s a moody teenager. I turned towards the bedroom door when something under her bed caught my eye.
A little piece of paper jutting out from underneath. I moved to the bedside and dropped to my knees. The paper had nothing but numbers scribbled across it, but behind it lay a small… journal? Diary? I picked it up and felt it over. It was damaged, the binding was loose and the cover was worn down. The edges of the paper inside looked… burnt? I stared at the small book for a minute. For some reason I felt a lump of nausea climbing up my throat. This small, seemingly harmless journal felt like a rock in my palm. Sweat broke out down the back of my neck.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I murmured to myself. With a sigh I pulled the front cover back. My hands shook as I skimmed the pages. I swallowed hard. I guess I had every reason to be nervous.
On almost every single page, there was one message.
He is coming.
What the fuck does that mean? I blinked hard as I shifted through the pages. The handwriting on each page got worse and worse. It looked less like an average teenager’s handwriting and more like scribbles from a toddler as the pages went on. The writing started to look desperate the further into it I got.
He is coming
He is COMIIing!!!
HEe IS COMINg!!!
HE IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!
More of the same as I scanned the pages. I was almost to the end when I heard a thump in the hallway. My heart fell out of my ass as I scrambled to shove the tiny book back under her bed. I flew to the closet and yanked the door open, shifting through her clothes. When her bedroom door swung open, for some reason, I felt uneasy.
“What are you doing in my room?” She snapped.
“Hey, Gemma. I was looking for something to wear.. I was going to a friend’s tonight.” I lied as calmly as I could. I could feel her moving behind me. I was scared she was going to get closer. This is ridiculous, I thought. She’s your sister. Still, I felt like a helpless gazelle being taunted by a lion.
I turned to look at her and was met with a gaze I have never witnessed before.
Her face was twisted into a snarled grimace. Anger seethed from every pore on her face. Her mouth fell open as she stared at me. “I-I’m sorry, Gem. You never used to care..” I suddenly felt very trapped and claustrophobic. Her bedroom door was closed and she stood between me and my one way out. Her head fell to the side as she blinked at me. “You’re useless.” She murmured faintly. “What?” I blinked at her. That was cruel, even for how Gemma was now. “You’re useless.” She shrugged as her head lay to the side in observance of me. It was like she was surveying how I was going to react. Her mouth started to fall open into a wide grin. “You’re useless and one day, Alice, I’m going to rip your tongue from your mouth.” She made a horrible gurgling noise from the back of her throat, followed by her usual shrill laugh. I stared at her in shock. Tears poured over my cheek as I shoved past her to the door. I had nothing to say, I just wanted to get away from her.
After that, we didn’t talk. If she walked into a room, I walked out of it. I didn’t know what was wrong with her, but I knew it had to have something to do with that weird little book. Her moods got worse, and it was making everyone in the house miserable. She started screaming at our parents, throwing glass plates on the ground. She would slam doors so hard the hinges would break. My dad had to replace her bedroom door twice. She would corner me or my mom, getting in our faces and taunting us. My mom tried taking her to therapy, but Gemma refused to go. She would sit in the car and scream until my mom let her out at the house.
And then one night.. Everything changed.
It was late, well past 11 pm. I was laying in my bed reading a manga I’d bought recently when I heard the familiar creak of her door opening. This was a usual routine for her now. She didn’t eat dinner with us, she would wait until we all went to bed and sneak down to the kitchen. I heard her soft footsteps walking up to my bedroom door when they suddenly stopped. I knew she was standing outside my door. My heart thumped in my chest. I stood up from my bed and hovered at the edge. I wanted to walk to my door, to open it, to just.. see her standing there. Hopefully apologetic and asking for forgiveness.
The thought made me laugh. And tear up, if I’m honest.
But instead I slowly approached my door. My heart was beating a mile a minute. There was no reason for me to be so nervous. She was just my sister. Her behavior had been weird, cruel even, but she hadn’t done anything too crazy for me to be fearful of her like this. My palms started to sweat and I felt a lump in my throat. I stood in front of the door and placed my hand on it gently. I stared at the doorknob, and I don’t know what possessed me to do it but… I locked it.
“Alice?”
Her voice startled me. I jolted in position. My mouth was dry and I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. “Alice?” She tried again. It was her voice, definitely. But something about it seemed so unlike her. It felt almost… sinister. “Alice.” This time it came as a statement rather than checking to see if I was actually there. “Are you gonna let me in?” I felt her tap against the door. I still couldn’t bring myself to say anything. My hand hovered above the doorknob, but I wasn’t trying to let her in. I was prepared to grab it if she tried to open it.
Suddenly, she began knocking on my door. Relentlessly. It started as a few light taps, then turned into banging. She was banging on my door. The whole thing vibrated and shook as she smacked and pounded on the other side. “Alice!” She screeched. The doorknob started shaking violently. I grabbed hold of it with as much strength as I could. Tears brimmed my eyes and my heart felt like it was going to seize up. ”ALICE!!!” She was screaming now and my bedroom door was hanging on by a thread. The lock had already busted, and it was just me versus her holding it. I could hear my parents start to shuffle around, and I heard my mom’s voice down the hall. “Gemma? What’s going on?” She sounded half asleep and dazed.
Everything got sickeningly quiet. I took several quick breaths and tried to steady my body weight against the door. “Gemma?” My moms voice traveled down the hallway. I took a breath and pried my door open, just a crack, to try and see what was going on. I was met with an image that is seared into my brain.
Gemma was staring at me. But not just staring. Her mouth was hanging open in a twisted grin. It was an elongated smile, her lips were cracking and bleeding from how wide she had stretched her lips. Her eyes were like saucers. The white spaces of her eyes were filled with black that bore into me. She was making this awful… clicking sound? Like it was coming from the back of her throat. Every time she clicked her head would twitch and bob. Her face was nearly pressed against my door. Very slowly, she reached a hand up to touch her jawline. Her fingers were bloody, and I quickly realized it was because she had ripped her nails off. When I say ripped them off... I mean it looked like she had just peeled them from her nail bed. Quicker than I could react, she shot a hand out into the crack of the door. She snatched a fistful of my hair and with a sharp tug, she ripped a chunk from my scalp. I screamed as my hands flew to my head. She giggled like an excited little kid at how horrified I was. I slammed the door in her face. “Gemma what the fuck!” I smacked my door and let out a sob. What was happening to my sister?
I heard my dad from the end of the hall. “Gemma.. Are you okay? Can we take you to the hospital?” He sounded so desperate to help her. Sadness welled up in my chest for my parents. How could they fix her?
Without warning, I heard her take off down the stairs. Her feet smacked the ground and I heard her jump off the last few steps. I flung my door open and ran to my mom. She threw her arms around me and cradled me. My dad stood there for a minute, like he was weighing his options. Gemma was downstairs throwing glass around in the kitchen. Every few minutes we could hear her shrill laughter followed by those sick clicking noises. “You two, in the bedroom. Now.” My dad ushered us into my parents’ room. My mom and I sat on their bed while my dad paced back and forth. He decided to call 911, to ask for a mental health check. My mom sobbed quietly on the bed beside me. We could hear the loud crashing of glass and things being knocked over downstairs. I couldn’t get that horrible gaunt look out of my head. That wasn’t Gemma, I wouldn’t accept it.
Suddenly, everything stopped. The shattering of glass, the shrill laughter and the awful clicking sounds. Our house became deadly quiet. My dad stared at the bedroom door, his hands balled into fists. My mom kept an arm around me. There was a thump at the door that jolted all of us.
“Mommy?” It was Gemma. She spoke so softly she almost sounded like her old self. I went to call out to her but my dad motioned for me to stay quiet. Small, faint sobs traveled from the other side of the door. I could feel my mom tense beside me. There was a scratching sound, like she was scraping her nails down the side of the door.
Except it couldn’t be her nails… she had ripped them all off. I seized up at the idea of her dragging a knife up and down the door.
Gemma began to laugh. She wasn't just laughing, though. She was sobbing, and cackling, at the same time. It sounded like two different voices bubbling up from her throat. One would wail like it was in pain, and the other would laugh maniacally. I chose to believe the maniacal one was the voice dragging the knife across the bedroom door. She began knocking, or rather banging, on the door. "LET ME IN!" She shrieked, still heaving a mixture of laughter and sobs. The banging increased and I thought for sure the door would bust. My mom was pale and trembling beside me. My dad stared at the door, in disbelief or fear, I couldn't tell.
"You can't hide from me forever, Alice." She spoke so quietly I thought I made it up. I glanced at my mom who put a finger over her mouth, a sign for me to stay quiet.
Suddenly, an echo of footsteps bounded up the stairs from the end of the hall. “Police!” We heard someone shout. I felt my mom shift beside me as my dad approached the door. “Put it down!” We assumed he was talking to Gemma. We heard her giggle maniacally, and what I’m still assuming was a knife dragging back down the door. But following the shrill laughter was a plea that reverberates in my mind. "Please.. help me." She choked out a sob, but as soon as softness came it went. Her feet pounded against the hardwood floor of the hallway. “Stay put! I said don’t move!” But faster than I think anyone could react, we heard a sickening cackle followed by a heavy thud.
Silence.
My dad waited about 10 minutes before pulling the door open. Gemma was gone, but there was a trail of blood streaking down the hallway. It reeked and made my stomach turn in knots. I was panting, both from the smell and the fear. There was a man laying at the end of the hallway, an officer, and it was clear he had been stabbed. We followed my dad down the hall, carefully trying to avoid stepping in blood. The officer groaned and my mom heaved a sigh of relief that he was alive. Backup was called, and an ambulance. They said he was stabbed 11 times, and miraculously survived. I don’t think that was an accident, though. I think if Gemma wanted him dead, he would be dead. I think that softness... that small sign of weakness was actually Gemma trying to save him. From whatever she had become.
There was no sign of her, though police followed a trail of blood through our front yard and onto the street. Strangely enough, it ended there. There was blood on our front door and, I guess, when police arrived the door was already open. That warranted them to search inside, where they found busted glass and shattered windows. Blood was pooled in the kitchen, and handprints stained the wall from floor to ceiling like… like she had been crawling on it. Even the police were at a loss about what happened. They’re still looking for her but, I don’t think she wants to be found. Not by them anyway.
The next day we packed as much as we could to leave. I was stuffing things into my suitcase, snagging a few books from my shelf to bring along, when a familiar sense of dread washed over me. My hands began to sweat and my fingers trembled as I brushed over the tiny diary. My mouth felt like cotton as I skimmed through the pages. I hadn’t seen Gemma, but somehow, I knew she had put this diary in my room. I’m not sure when… but judging by the blood on the pages, it was sometime during the previous night. The pages all looked familiar, except the very last one. This is why I’m reaching out for help, advice… anything. Because I’m pretty sure she’s coming back for me. I’m scared… and I feel like no matter how far away we go, Gemma is going to know exactly where I am.
Hel. He's. he lp here me…. Alice. Alice. Alice. ALICE. ALICE!!!!!!!

2023.06.04 21:18 Never231 ESSAY: impressions after 2 playthroughs on exterminatus from an arcade shooter veteran

to preface, let me make it clear that i'm blown away by the creativity and talent on display. everyone aware of the scene kinda knows we're in a "boomer shooter" renaissance right now, and imo boltgun stands tall right alongside titans like doom eternal, dusk, ultrakill, etc. this game has awoken something in me that i haven't felt since the release of doom eternal and i can't get it outta my mind. for the last few days ive felt compelled to write a massive fucking wall of text to show my love for this game, so here we are. i want to give my thoughts on the gameplay loop, including strengths and criticisms, in a somewhat random order. this will be about my personal preferences so i'm sure others will disagree with some of what i say. i beat the game on exerminatus on my second day of gameplay on june 1st (i kinda blitzed thru due to time constraints), and i've been casually playing through a couple stages a day when i have time since.
MOVEMENT
i am obsessed, and i mean OBSESSED with the movement system in context with the combat loop. you're ridiculously fast in the BEST WAY, you can jump higher and faster than other arcade shooters, and you have extremely fine control over your movement. it's overpowered, SERIOUSLY overpowered, but i haven't seen a game give us this level of mobility and control that manages to engage me in the same way boltgun has. you become disgustingly powerful when you learn how to consistently dodge every enemy attack pattern and climb like a cat. it's extremely satisfying. i've seen some people say to turn on autorun, but i think this is a serious mistake. you can very consistently dodge enemy fire even at close range by changing your speed midair after jumping and adjusting your movements with precision and speed. you can also make some outlandishly stylish plays that are impossible in any other game in the genre in recent memory. it's so much fun to me, and i find it so satisfying to drop into a random stage after a long day and parkour around while mowing through arenas. i don't feel this way about other games in the genre.
SECRETS
there was a big missed opportunity with the secrets. i'm aware that this is a point that has been hammered into the ground by other players, so i'll keep this brief. i feel that the dev's outstanding level of competency and attention to detail when designing the movement system further exposes how glaringly boring the secrets are. it was especially striking how many "off-limits" places i could somehow parkour my way into that were totally empty. it really makes me wonder what the level designers were doing. maybe they added the secrets at the last minute? that's a fair excuse imo. to me, secrets are more of a minor point, but it's probably the most obvious flaw in my eyes.
LEVEL DESIGN
moving on, let's talk level design. i've seen plenty of users complain about the lack of a map system that's common in other arcade shooters, but i had little trouble navigating most levels without a map. there were a few "wait, where was that locked door again?" moments, but for the most part the level design was quite intuitive. to me, most of the stages in all three chapters were diverse, vibrant, unique, and really fun to explore and navigate around. some stages kinda blend together, but i've not played a game that avoids this yet.
i'm not someone who follows 40k lore, but i can tell the devs did the 40k universe justice by some of the setpieces and architecture on display. the use of matching colored lightning to illuminate keys/doors was very helpful to me, and there's not too much backtracking if you follow the signposting. however, i understand that other players may have had a more difficult time identifying signposting and navigating some of the stages, especially the more mazey ones. i don't think much would be lost by giving users a map. (side note, i actually quite enjoyed the portals puzzle in sanctum manufactorum, though that's possibly because i had fun parkouring to unintended routes lol)
DIFFICULTY CURVE
next, let's get into the difficulty curve. as others have pointed out, this game starts easy, pretends to be easy for a minute, and then comes out of fucking nowhere to pound you into the fucking ground. i LOVED it. even as a veteran of the genre, i died probably 5 to 10 times on the first plague frog arena. this was definitely the most difficult part of the game for me, as you don't have many tools at that point and you haven't had much time to understand how the enemy ai and attack patterns work. on the second playthrough, i cruised through it without a second thought. this is primarily because the game does a really great job of teaching you to spot key pickups and use secrets/powerups wisely. it practically BEGS you to abuse them in certain arenas, and i found every major "boss" (lord of change, etc.) to be a breeze because of vortex grenades and intelligent resource management.
i found the difficulty of the hardest arenas basically on par with nightmare in doom eternal. doom eternal is my personal bar for difficulty, as i've completely UN runs of the main campaign and first DLC. honestly, the difficulty of this game when it gets going feels equivalent to hardest difficulties in other arcade shooters that have emerged in the current renaissance. i've seen people say that this game is "too easy" on exterminatus, but i think they nailed the difficulty for the most part. there's some clear inconsistencies, but the large arenas can be challenging and are fun without fail. i definitely would like to see this game get an "ultra nightmare" mode ( one save, if you die progress resets to c1m1) and something akin to doom eternal's master levels. tbh at this point i will fucking devour anything else the devs can drip feed me.
ARSENAL
let's talk guns. i think the arsenal variety is almost perfect and the balance is quite good. the meltagun is possibly overtuned, but also the bosses in this game are pretty bullet spongey on exterminatus, so i'm very grateful for it. i use all guns pretty evenly, to be honest. depending on how i want to play a stage i'll pick a different gun for the machine spirit, though i find myself almost exclusively picking the volkite caviler by chapter 3 because of the amount of mid and hightier enemies. i think each gun is viable for the machine spirit on the majority of stages, and my choice here simply reflects my playstyle, not necessarily the gun power. here's a brief overview of my use cases:
ammo for certain weapons is definitely way too common, but i wasn't too bothered with this. i see it as the level designers telling you to "just have fun and go crazy" with certain weapons. it definitely makes the game easier, but my instincts from other arcade shooters make me naturally conserve way more than necessary regardless. they could probably halve the ammo pickups and i wouldn't notice lol. it takes concerted effort for me to ammo dump and not weapon swap.
edit 1: i read that many people felt that there wasn't enough feedback for hitting/killing an enemy. i personally don't have this issue, as the sounds and blood effects are audible and visible from even across the map. i guess i'm also kinda used to memorizing the shots to kill for every gun on every enemy, so all i need to hear is the CRUNCH sound
ENEMIES, BOSSES
enemy diversity is average to sometimes a bit lacking. many small tier enemies are the same, just with varying healthpools. i'm kinda okay with this, as the core combat loop is still pretty tight. enemy placement is great and i was surprised by ambushes plenty of times (ig this goes in level design, oops), requiring me to think on my toes and distracting me from how boring some of the enemies are. the enemy diversity isn't much different than other similar arcade shooters so i'm not disappointed or anything, i just think the combat system they have in place gives them a lot of room to expand. i really enjoy that the projectile patterns/tracking patterns from certain enemies is both predictable but also a little random, meaning you can get very far on movement skill alone but bad placement or poor number sense will always screw you over.
bosses are fine if not boring or with obtuse mechanics. bosses and hightier enemies are much spongier than necessary, requiring powerups/vortex grenades/meltagun if you don't want to be there all day. in theory, this is good game design because it pushes players use the resources (powerups) that you give them. in practice, boss fights can be a somewhat frantic slog if you missed a secret or don't explore the arena in the "proper" order. in my opinion, the game would benefit greatly by decreasing boss healthpools and certain hightier healthpools but increasing difficult in other ways like enemy count or projectile count.
FINAL THOUGHTS
this is getting too long. i think the main theme i want to highlight is "potential". that's not to say that the game is bad. i think the game is fantastic in its current state and definitely worth a buy if you're a fan of the genre. however, different parts of the game are on different levels of good. the movement feels ridiculously good with lots of depth, the level design is quite good but the secrets are severely lacking, the enemy variety is decent and it's fun enough to engage with them, the bosses are okay i guess but are definitely too spongey. certain aspects of boltgun definitely shine through to make it a memorable and addictive game to me. HOWEVER, if they keep working with what they have, i think this will be my new favorite arcade shooter. also, i reserve my right to update this post when i read it again in a few hours and realize i left out lots of stuff i wanted to talk about lmao
TLDR
game good. movement PHENOMENAL, guns good, levels good, enemies good, bosses okay. combat loop extremely satisfying. while still challenging, i think the skill ceiling for the systems in place is far higher than what the current max difficulty offers. pls devs keep updating/working on what you have. even if not, it'll still be one of my favorite games.

Hello! My interior lights, the lights coming from the windows are very bright. I suspect that this is coming from Lux, I'm not entirely sure as I have used Lux before, and this hasn't happend although when I turn Lux off, the problem seems to be fixed but then I don't have any light coming from the windows :/ I am also having issues with the effects on spells, they're not showing up at all. Only the orbs color, for example there is no lightning effects on the spark spell.

2023.06.04 20:56 RedSkyInTheMornin ROTP v1.04 bugs/enhancements

ROTP v1.04 bugs/enhancements
I've been playing ROTP v1.04 since last fall, and it's great. I have found a few bugs and thought of several enhancements. I've emailed this list to Ray Fowler just now (with a .zip of the save files which reddit won't let me post here, but I am attaching the screenshots mentioned below).
Most of these things aren't very impactful, except for B9, IMO.
Is there a mod that just fixes bugs ? Thanks !
Also, I'm not much of a reddit user; this is my first post, so sorry if I'm making any newbie mistakes.
Remnants of the Precursors v1.04
Bugs:
B0. In the ROTP_Manual_v1_04.pdf
- Table 10.5: Heavy Fusion Beam says 4-16 damage, but game Tech tree says 4-30 damage.
- Table 10.5: Heavy Phasor says 5-20 damage, but game Tech tree says 5-40 damage.
- In-game "Graviton Beam" description says "beam capable of rendering ships to pieces". It should be "rending" instead of "rendering".
B1. "Continue Game" doesn't load the most recent save, it loads the most recent auto-save file.
Justification: I save my game several times in-between turns, especially from the middle-game onwards, so I must remember to do "Load Game" vs "Continue Game" to pick up where I left off.
I think this is counter-intuitive. It may be mentioned in the documentation somewhere, but it should probably load the most recent saved game.
Estimated difficulty to change (or fix): "Medium"
B2A. Colonies screen Shipyard refresh bug.
- Goto the Colonies view, select the Ecology View tab (or the Industry View tab).
- Exit to the main map, select a system that's producing a ship (or make a system start producing a different ship).
- Goto the Colonies view, select the Military View tab. The system you were just in is selected, but its Shipyard field is blank (or shows a partial ship name). When you select another system in the grid, the Shipyard field that was incorrect now refreshes with the correct data.
Estimated difficulty to fix: "Medium"
B2B. Technology Discovery % boxes along left/bottom corner refresh problem
If you adjust systems' tech output so that it affects the arrival time of a technology, the 6 technology discovery boxes don't seem to update to the correct value until after you go to the Tech screen and come back to the main screen.
B3. Colony has the same name as a system with no colonizable planets.
- I've got a colony named "New Kekule" in the New Buffon Nebula, and there's a system with no planets of the same name to its SW about 29.4 ly. (Screenshot: "bug_2_kekule_systems.jpg", Save game file: "Mentaran4_679_two_NewKekule_systems.rotp".)
B4A. Cryslonoid ships don't get slowed down by nebulas.
If this is a feature, it should be documented, but it seems like a bug. Although they can colonize any type of planet because of their biology, they doesn't seem to explain how their space travel technology (which is the same as the other races) ignores nebulae slowness. [ see "Mentaran5_722_cryslonoid_ships_nebula.rotp" ]
B4B. Cryslonoid ships immediately upgrade their engines to a new warp speed as soon as it is learned.
B5A. The user choices for the range area display (on the left upper button menu, the concentric blue circles icon) are
- background-stars-OFF/range-circles-OFF
- background-stars-OFF/range-circles-ON
- background-stars-ON/range-circles-ON
- background-stars-ON/range-circles-OFF
However, each time you restart the game, it defaults to background-stars-ON/range-circles-ON, instead of the option the user had selected during the last game session.
This option should be saved as a game setting option somewhere, and not in a save game file.
B5B. The user choices for the ship/transport course dashed-line display (on the left upper button menu, the concentric white circles icon) are
- friendly-unit-course-lines-OFF/enemy-unit-course-lines-OFF
- friendly-unit-course-lines-ON/enemy-unit-course-lines-ON
- friendly-unit-course-lines-ON/enemy-unit-course-lines-OFF
However, each time you restart the game, it defaults to friendly-unit-course-lines-ON/enemy-unit-course-lines-OFF, instead of the option you had selected during your last game session.
This option should be saved as a game setting option somewhere, and not in a save game file.
B6. I was designing a ship and picking an armor for it, and it gave me a weird crash (screenshot: "recent_rotp_2023_02_24.jpg", save file: "recent_2023_02_24.rotp") It's only had that crash that one time.
B7. I when I discovered Advanced Space Scanner, it started showing me a list of many dozens of newly discovered planets. The "Close" button was covered up by the planet display screen (see the screenshot "AdvancedSpaceScanner_planet_list_dlg_bug_underlap_turn_705.jpg" and the saved game file "Mentaran8_704_AdvSpaceScanner_bug.rotp" for the end of the previous turn). As a workaround, I discovered that the "Esc" key dismisses this discovered planet dialog.
B8/E8. When a system has a stargate, in the main map view, the system window shows the system name with a swirl icon to the upper left of the planet image, indicating it has the stargate. This swirl icon is missing in the same view in the Colonies screen when that system is selected. I would consider this a minor bug.
Enhancement: Add a column for stargate in the Colonies screen, maybe under the Military View tab.
B9/E9. Bug in invasion code about hand weapons
I think there's a bug in the ground troop battle system. When being invaded by the Altairi (load the save file "Mentaran12_730_.rotp" from year 730 and poke "Next Year", then see the battle in year 731, with the battle screenshot "mentar12_731_altairi_invade_ion_rifle.jpg"), the screen shows that I have Fusion Rifle, and the Altairi have Ion Rifle, but when I invaded an Altairi world a few turns before (and also the turn after - load save game file "Mentaran12_731_.rotp" and advance to the next year to see the battle in year 732), it showed that both of us have Fusion Rifle and my men get slaughtered. In year 731, looking at the Races/Intelligency screen for the Altairi, it shows they have Fusion Rifle (see screenshot "mentar12_731_altairi_intelligence_shows_fusion_rifle.jpg").
In a previous game (which I stupidly didn't save the files for): I invaded a planet with troops, and the battle screen said I had hand phasors, but at the time I had superior plasma rifle technology that I had acquired at least a few turns before. See the screenshots "battle_shows_hand_phasors.jpg" and "tech_shows_plasma_rifle.jpg".
Enhancement: I think an explicit list of the +NN modifiers for every ground battle enhancement would be nice on the Race/Military screen, perhaps displayed below where it currently shows the total +XX number.
Enhancements:
E1. On the Colonies screen, add a way to jump to the selected colony on the main star map.
Justification: If you have a lot of star systems, it's really tedious to scroll around the map to find the system you're looking for.
Suggested implementation: In the upper right corner area with the name of the system and the planet picture, add a "Jump to System" button that immediately exits the Colonies screen and takes you back to the main star map, with that selected system in the middle of the screen. Or, just make poking on the system's name text in that upper right area do the jump, instead of a button (but that's less obvious).
Also, make this button still work when already on the main map screen, in case you've selected a system and scrolled around but don't know which direction to scroll the map back to that system.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Easy"
E2. Star map incoming population overage color change
For star systems' incoming population lines, change the color to something other than green if the incoming population is too large for that system, and population will be lost upon arrival.
Justification: It's not good to lose population because you overlooked a link in a grand chain migration master plan.
Suggested implementation: The current color is green, so keep that color if the population will fit in the system. Red color indicates inbound enemies, so keep that red. Yellow is also a movement line color already, so for friendly overpopulation moves, I suggest displaying them in the hot pink color, to draw attention to them.
Ideally, this would take into account that system's growth/decline for the time it takes the population to arrive. For attacking invasions, it would probably not take into account battle casualty calculations, but just let you know that some of the population will be killed off unless they first die in battle.
Also, if multiple populations are arriving at such an overfed system, each one would be displayed in that special color.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E3. When colonizing a star system where there is more than one type of colony ship that can build the colony, list each different usable ship design and ask the user which colony ship to expend.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E4. Main map, system name tag changes:
Change it from the current
Vesalius
Pop 83 Fac 216 Base 2
to also show the max pop, max factories, and ship production (with ship production limit prefix, as in the Colonies' Shipyard column):
Vesalius
Pop 83/85 Fac 216/255 Base 2
3 Dreadnought
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E5. Colonies screen, add "maximum population", "maximum production", and "incoming population" columns
Justification: I'd like to sort on the maximum pop and maximum production columns, so I can find the systems I need to build mega-ships.
There's a "Capacity" column that I don't know if it means population or production or what. I'd also like to see which systems have population that's scheduled to arrive.
Suggested implementation:
- Remove the "Capacity" column (or leave it, but maybe explain it)
- Change "Population" to "Pop" to save room
- Add a "Max Pop" column, to the right of "Pop"
- Add a "Inc Pop" column, to the right of "Max Pop" (this value is displayed in the "too much incoming population" color if it's too much for the system to hold)
- Add a "Max Prod" column, to the right of "Prod"
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E6. Map screen, toggle display of enemy range/extended range borders and enemy colonizable systems, based on intelligence reports for that enemy
Justification: It would be great to see which stars the computer opponents can get to, and which ones they can't, when planning which planets to colonize.
Suggested implementation:
- Add some sort of array of Enemy Overlay buttons on the main map screen. If you turned on Enemy 3's overlay, it would show Enemy 3's known border (based on their known systems) and extended border (as a non-filled in outline in the Enemy 3 color), and any uncolonized systems capable of settling by Enemy 3 would be circled in the Enemy 3 color.
- The player could toggle each enemy's overlay button independently of the others, so that any/none could be on at the same time.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E7. Tech screen, add "Equalize Outcomes" button
The existing "Equalize Allocations" button will equalize the funding to all of the non-locked categories by simplifying dividing the total research amount by the number of non-locked categories. It would be great if there were another button that would set the levels for the non-locked categories so that their research would be done at about the same time.
Suggested implementation:
For example, if I want the Computers/Battle Comp III, Force Fields/Class 3, and Weapons/NeutronPellotGun all to finish about the same time, I could lock down the other fields (Construction, Planetology, Propulsion) and poke the "Equalize Outcomes" button, and it would fund those 3 categories so that they would each have their bubbles filled on about the same turn.
Yes, it couldn't be perfect, but something in the same plus/minus 1 turn ballpark arrival target would be great.
Justification: I'm doing the same thing now manually with a calculator, so this would get rid of that drudgery.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E8. Main map, shrink "Next Year" button and/or add optional confirmation:
Justification: Several times I have accidentally poked on the "Next Year" button when I was intending just to un-select the current system/fleet.
Suggested implementations:
- Shrink the "Next Year" button down to being just big enough to contain its text, and put a blank area (or mini-map, see below) next to it:
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E9. "Current game settings" info screen:
It would be great to be able to see the settings that were used to create the current game: size of galaxy, number of opponents, difficulty, and all the settings for the game options.
Justification: When I'm close to finishing a game, I start thinking about what settings to use for the next game, but I can't remember what the settings were for the current game as a basis to go by for setting up the next one.
Suggested implementation: Add another option to the "Game" screen, or to the Game / Settings screen with this info.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E10. "Hall of Fame / Hall of Shame" screen:
Add a screen that records the end of games that are played to the actual end, either to victory or defeat, and indicate that, along with all the game settings that were used.
Justification: It would be nice to see a log of my performances on various different game settings.
Suggested implementation: Add a "Hall of Victory" (or other name) option to the "Game" screen, that is a new page with this info.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E11. Battle map turn counters
On the space battle map, show the number of rounds of combat so far, and the number of rounds remaining in the battle.
Justification: I like to batter the planet's population down with my warships. As long as you keep one stack of the enemy ships alive, you can batter the planet as long as you wish, until the maximum number of battle rounds is reached. Right now, you have no idea of knowing when that will occur, so if you ignore killing the last enemy spaceships, you will be repulsed from the system after the battle is over. An elapsed rounds/remaining rounds display would alleviate that.
Suggested implementation:
Shrink the size of the buttons along the bottom of the screen, and add an unclickable text display of "Battle rounds: XX/YY" that updates each round.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Medium"
E12A. Galactic thumbnail view on the main star map
Have a Civilization 4-like mini-map on the main star map, to show what portion of the galaxy is currently in view.
Justification: For larger maps, it would be great to know what area of the galaxy is being viewed, at a glance.
Suggested implementation: On the bottom right, make the "Next Year" button just big enough for its text (yes, it's more letters in other languages), move it to the far right, and put the galactic thumbnail next to it on the left, such as:
________________________
[*] Next thumbnail shows the selected star near
Tech Year the top left of galaxy; a rectangle
____________________ shows the galaxy subset in the display now
________________________
[ ] Next thumbnail shows the selected star near
Tech * Year the center left of galaxy; a rectangle
____________________ shows the galaxy subset in the display now;
the selected planet is not in the current
view, the user needs to scroll down to see it
The entire galaxy would be shown (shrunk down as much as necessary); on large maps, the stars might be less than one pixel each, so maybe just show the globular colored areas for each race, and have one point (very bright white) that represents the location of the selected system within the galaxy. There's also a rectangle showing the currently displayed subset of the galaxy shown in the main window.
This would work in the same fashion as the mini-map in Civilization 4.
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Hard"
E12B. Galactic thumbnail view in the Colonies screen
Justification: I really need to know where in the galaxy each star is in order to know how to set the values for it.
Implementation: This is the same as the thumbnail view on the main star map, minus the inner bounding rectangle.
Also, note that here in the Colonies screen, the "Exit" button is on the left of the mini-map, not the right. This positioning is important, as it conditions the user to poke to the left of the star map to exit, and will make it more distinct from the "Next Year" button on the main map screen.
___________________
Treasury * thumbnail shows the selected star near
xxx BC [Exit] the top left of galaxy
________________
Estimated difficulty to implement: "Hard"
E13. On the "Races/Intelligence" tab, the technologies that the player and selected alien species both have are shown in black text, and the techs that only the selected alien has are shown in yellow text. Many of these are obsolete technologies for the player, so it would be great if these techs would be displayed in a non-yellow color, perhaps gray or white, signifying that the alien species does not hold that tech as an advantage over the player.
E14. On the "Races/Status" tab, it shows the bar graphs for the percentages of the player's planets vs. the other known races' planets. It would good to also display the actual number of each of the other races planets (which the player can work out with simple algebra from that information, but that's not usually considered "fun", so let the computer do it).
E15. It would be great if the Space Amoeba and Space Crystal would appear on the main map as moving entities (like an enemy ship) so you could track the progress of their arrival to their next target system.
E16. On the Colonies screen, the Star Gate binary property should be a sortable column.
E17. For the F2/F3, F5/F6, F7/F8, F9/F10, F11/F12 buttons, it would be great if instead of immediately jumping the map to the new location, it would scroll the map so the user would have some indication of where the new item is located relative to the previous one. The scroll speed would need to be not too fast, but not too slow either. Maybe there could also be a checkbox to toggle the new scrolling behavior vs. the existing jump behavior.

2023.06.04 20:35 Supper-in-silence I can't slow down

Whatever I'm doing in this game is a speed run in my head, I can't help it. Sorry for getting 200 kills in a 8 minute strike, for clearing out entire sides of the map in gambit and aping everyone in the crucible. My brain thinks I'm lightning McQueen and I can't stop

2023.06.04 19:56 pepsi_captain Mobility rant

How in god’s name is a 50-70ton mbt faster on an asphalt road than a 25ton modern wheeled tank destroyer. This doesn’t make any sense. I play on urban maps with my Centauro’s who all have all the mobility upgrades, and get constantly outran to the caps by abrams and russian mbt’s, who for some reason are lightning mcqueen with armor and guns. Gaijin fix that shit please

2023.06.04 19:54 MohnJaddenPowers Rec for 9-11" non-Kindle reader with easy wireless functionality, amber light, splash resistance, maybe note taking, $300ish max used

I have a Kobo Libra H2O and want something larger - increased font size is great on the H2O but has so many page turns. Gotta have some form of native wireless way to send epubs and cbzs (the KoboCloud workaround is not reliable), amber light, and some form of water resistance for accidental bath drops. Note-taking functionality would be nice to have. Color would be nice but not necessary.
Trying to keep it at around $300ish and I'm OK buying used.
